The logo is not protected so pretty much worthless. Moreover all coconut farms use monkeys for the really tall threes. So it is impossible for the factory to know the monkey status on each coconut.

Honestly, it looks like a great idea. I support monkey labour. I mean, as long as the monkeys are taken care of. I suspect the conditions aren't great for some of them.

All monkeys live chained to a cage unless they’re on duty as they’re leashed then. They eat pretty well and is otherwise taken care of such as cleaned etc…
The only ones really taking care of monkeys as pets is monks, but they don’t use them for work. Those using monkeys for work take care of them as good as possible for the most part, but they’re always chained as they’re dangerous.

When I was a kid one of the local TV stations had a kid's show with a host called Captain Briny. He was some guy with a beard and a sailing captain's hat, he had a monkey always perched on his shoulder, a little squirrel monkey called Salty. My brother and I got to meet Captain Briny and Salty once, he fed the monkey bubble gum. Years later, when I was in high school, one day a guy was showing his GF something he had cupped in his hand. He turned to me and opened his hand, revealing a tiny little skull. He said, "Do you remember Salty the monkey? This was him!"

Not sure if this was a joke or not. Monkeys are used to harvest coconuts. Saw a video from Thailand and thought we could use the same in India. Because coconut tree climbing is a dangerous profession.

Yeah as an American the idea of people being offended by monkeys being trained to pick coconuts has my eyes rolling. I looked it up and a single macaque can harvest over 1000 coconuts a day vs around 100 MAX for an individual human. And as you pointed out, very dangerous compared to an animal that literally evolved to climb trees.
Next we will have outrage over the exploitation of sheep dogs.

Coconut cream just has a higher fat content, they're basically the same thing, but the cream is richer and thicker. Same with dairy milk and cream :)

A good coconut milk (i.e. Without added emulsifiers) should be separated in the tin though, so you can still take out just the pure fat and split that to fry the paste in, and then add the more liquid parts of the can after to simmer the curry.

Yeah, they do. I've been to the coconut farms, seen it with my own eyes. It's monkeys all the way down. Monkeys climb the trees. Monkeys drive the forklifts, run the grinders, operate the centrifuge. There's only one human there, a guy named Joe. His whole job is to stir creamer and sugar into the monkeys coffee, since they lack the opposable thumbs to grab the little stirrer sticks.

I first heard about it a few years ago when a supermarket I went to was being protested for carrying items harvested through monkey labor.
I remember laughing about it and thinking, "How could watching cool monkeys throw fruit out of trees be abuse?"

Worst part is that it'd cost them barely anything extra to treat them nicely. Shit just build em some bunk beads and give them decent meals. Apparently basically all primates LOVE figit toys and those are dirt cheap from China. Hell abusing the monkeys probably costs them more than being nice since they probably need to hire more humans to handle them than would otherwise be needed.

No Cream of coconut is basically coconut flavored syrup. Your drink will be remarkably less sweet and full of thick particles of fat that won’t dissolve if you use coconut cream.
Cream of coconut is one of those 50s products made for tiki drinks. BevMo or online.

If you search the nutritional labels, you’ll find the same ingredients but the coconut milk has slightly fewer calories. The “milk” has 140 cal/80ml, the “cream” has 60 cal/30ml, which would work out to 160 cal/80ml.
TL;DR: same coconuts, more water.
You might want to check expiration dates on those cans. Native Forest started claiming “Monkey Free Plus” status for all of their coconut products in August of last year. My guess is more recent cans of either product will have that certification logo.

It's mostly the coconuts from Thailand, that are harvest by monkeys.The way this monkeys are trained and treated is very cruel. It's most likely what's called a "soft" change to the product I.e the artwork ( as seen by the claim of no monkey labour). In this case the barcode (EAN) of each SKU is the same but the internal code that the manufacturer uses are different.
When it's a "hard" change that then means new EAN number as something fundamentally changed I.e volume of content, ingredients etc.
These changes are very common in FMCG. Good example is coca cola 500ml around Christmas time. Same product but artwork is different and can sometimes result in 2 different drinks on the shelf.

The absence of a monkey labour sticker doesn’t mean it uses monkey labour. It means it doesn’t have a label to say it doesn’t.
Someone in marketing has decided this is an important fact to start including on the label, or perhaps now they use a different supplier and their previous one did. You can’t know that from the absence of a label.
They’re also different products.
