It happened just a few hours ago and it's still just ridiculous.

A few friends and I usually take the piss with one another for a laugh and this time we were teasing our mutual friend for getting her baby's ears pierced because she "didn't ask for her baby's consent".

Today, this got me wondering about what other people think regarding the entire idea of children being able to consent to things. The age to get piercings, tattoos and the like because it's always neat to see another take on a subject.

Like a genius I went to AskReddit (where everyone is always oh so nice) and put up "In your eyes, at what age can a child give consent" and immediately people are freaking out because they saw "child" and "consent" and started thinking that the question was about sex.

Great.

So now I'm permanently banned from a sub for violating Rule 8 by "sexualizing minors" by asking when they thought children could have the maturity to decide things for themselves.

TL;DR Asked a question about consent; I am now Gary Glitter.

Yep, I could've easily fixed it with two words for context and in no way am I blaming people for my poor choice of a title just because I wanted to leave it open for more people instead of just those with ideas on body modification. Good on you, if you're a parent or guardian that took measures to shut down questionable behavior online regardless. Shame on you, if you're one of the many pathetic idiots that are suggesting autism and pedophilia are somehow linked. Sweet Jesus.
