To answer your question seriously.. children can’t consent. Parents consent on their behalf and need to sign for them under 18 (16 in some places)
Previous piercer here, I worked in a tattoo shop; I do agree that I would never pierce a child until they could verbally tell me they wanted it though and can understand and follow aftercare instructions and repeat them back to me.. 7/8 year old usually. Your ears grow a lot and piercings done at a young age can look different placement wise years down the road..
Make sure wherever you get it done uses a hollow needle as well.
I think this varies for different things because obviously I would never allow a child to get a tattoo until 16-18 or so. Even then, I always recommend they wait a couple years to make sure it’s what they want.
Haha I 100% unilaterally ruled that my kid doesn’t get body modifications without their own consent bc family were pushing me to pierce their ears as a newborn. We don’t even cut that kids hair without their ok.
