discussion Call for additional moderators
As you can see from this image, which is every mod action in the last 365 days, I could use some help. Two of our mods haven't even posted on Reddit in the last 8 months. If anyone is interested in helping out the /r/SouthCarolina community, let me know.

discussion Serious question: Does voting Democrat even matter in this state, Sc would never turn blue right?
I’m asking because I had a discussion with my co worker yesterday and he said he won’t bother to vote because SC is a republican heavy state and his 1 vote won’t make a difference in the grand scheme of things.
I don’t really disagree because it would be historical for this state to turn blue, but thoughts?

discussion “Slut”
Fondly remembering my ex boyfriend’s mother calling the end pieces of a loaf of bread a “slut”: because “everybody’s touched her but nobody wants her” 😂
She also would do this like, hog whistle?-type sound as a way to get our attention if she needed us lmao
Loved that southern woman! Wish I could scrub my horrible ex out of these otherwise charming memories ☺️

discussion Is Big Red soda sold in South Carolina?
Most states do not sell Big Red. I'll be traveling to South Carolina soon. Curious if it can be purchased there or do I need to smuggle my own? 😅

image Don’t Speed in Mcbee
Here is your reminder for everyone traveling on 151 this week, especially with all the “I got a ticket” posts recently…
DO NOT SPEED IN MCBEE.
The speed limit signs are clearly marked, you better be going the speed limit when you pass that sign. Likewise, don’t speed up until you pass the speed limit signs heading away from Mcbee.
I’ve seen people pulled over everyday on my way home from work this past week… they are out and they are enforcing.

discussion Where to see an Upstate Fireworks Show?
My family will be traveling to Northern Georgia on July 4. Our route will take us through Greenville. Is there a kid friendly fireworks show anywhere in that area? Bonus if there is a hotel nearby we can walk from to see the show.

discussion Fripp Island steamer pots / seafood boil
Is there a steamer pot to-go or seafood boil catering service for Fripp Island? We are looking to eat at the beach house. I don’t mind cooking everything but having a lot of the prep done would be ideal. I have used them in the Outer Banks, where they came and set everything up and gave an instruction sheet and it worked out well.

discussion Me and fiancée looking for friend groups
Probably not the place, so I apologize if so. If anyone has some pointers to any groups or what not, let me know. Me (23) and my fiancée (22), just moved to the Columbia area. We essentially uprooted our lives and started fresh down here, and are looking for friends and stuff to do in the area. We are outdoorsy, like to ride atv's, go wheeling, riding the Harley, etc. We would rather have a bonfire and drink beer in a field with others and talk about life, instead of going to bars and clubs if that makes sense.
Thanks everyone.

image Question
Last Saturday 06/26/2024 my husband ,grandson and I were fishing on lake Keowee in a cove at the nuclear plant, it was around 9:30-10:30. All was quite when suddenly out of nowhere a plane flies just over the tree tops, literally looked as if it was going to crash into the lake. It was so close you could clearly see every thing on the plane, but there were no visible numbers or any other markings. It scared us 3 so bad we all jumped from our chairs and was preparing ourselves to run for cover..lol. My grandson's little heart was just a beeping as he says, I was shaking and my husband of course was quite stunned but also laughing at us. Then plane continued on across the lake and went back towards the Seneca area. I'm just curious if anyone knows why a plane would be flying at night extremely low over a nuclear power plant. It wasn't a passenger plane. It was more like a plane in the photo. I've seen them before fly over my home extremely low but never at night or over a nuclear plant. Any idea what was going on? I searched for an answer but no luck. Just very curious.

discussion Sell my house FSBO
What’s the best way to sell my house FSBO? I’m happy to pay to have it listed but don’t want to pay someone 3%. My neighbors’ homes have sold in less than a week so I’m not worried about needing to generate interest or showings.
