I can't believe how much people in the west are missing with Thums Up. Coke acquired it in India and keep trying desperately to Nerf the formula, but we love it too much here.
It's a more caffeinated, more bubbly coke and it's amazing.

Living in Arizona it's very common to find Mexican Coke which is just Coca-Cola with sugar instead of HFCS and bottled in glass. Feel like that'd fit Miguel a lot better because it's the "way it's supposed to be done".

Now the X-Men of earth 138?? They would definitely be youth crew & straight edge. Prep school suburban kids in a punk world. Associated with the X. Their uniforms during the Morrison era are not far at all from the youth crew varsity jackets and swatches look.
My guess is all the heroes of earth 138 partake in drugs and/or alcohol except the X-Men and maybe Kamala Khan.

Here in the U.S. we're coming around to the idea that its not weed that destroys lives, it's the war on drugs and the huge judicial overreaction to weed that has destroyed lives.
I don't see Hobie bringing coke, but I could see him bringing weed.

Just because it's a crime doesn't mean people don't do it, weed is something that's pretty normalised. Like, Alleys stink of weed, Uni accom stink of weed, we are the no. 1 exporter of medical Marijuana. I've never heard anyone who isn't old saying weed destroys lives in the UK.
Hard drugs too, ketamine is huge in the UK. On multiple occasions whilst I was at uni I saw people fucked as all hell cause they drank whilst taking ket. In secondary I'd hear of parties with kids my age at that time literally doing coke in bathrooms. Getting absolutely pissed on alcohol is super normalised and people tend to mix it with drugs.
Since Hobbie is an anarchist, I'm not sure why UK laws would mean much to him. I'm not so sure about any comic lore about him, just giving UK info.

No. It’s either “soda” or “soft drink”. I only hear people call everything “Coke” when they’re trying to be funny, or if they’re just referencing cola in general. Someone saying “I want a Coke” certainly doesn’t mean they want Mountain Dew… but it might mean they’ll accept a Pepsi instead of Coke.

South where? I live in WV and generally we call soda pop, like as a substitute for the word soda. We also use specific brand/ flavor names sometimes too like Pepsi or Coke.

I think, one person had a southern uncle who was too stubborn or dumb to learn new things, called all sodas "coke" and were like "wow, this must be what every hick calls it."

Believe it or not, miles and Gwen are the only two to have committed a Party foul.
Miguel and Pav brought what was asked of them.
Peter brought an off brand which, while not preferred, it usually tastes the same and is a lot cheaper, so it's still acceptable. Also Peter is that friend that you wouldn't ask to buy much of anything so it's understandable for him to be cheap.
Hobie could have just made a simple mistake, considering it's the same name and the host didn't specify. Also drugs are always accepted at a party.
Gwen however brought diet Coke, which does have a different flavor and most people prefer regular Coke. This could not have been a misinterpretation, clearly a choice was made to ignore preferences and she brought what she liked for the party.
Miles also chose to ignore preferences and choose to bring the (admittedly better cola) Pepsi. Miles' party foul is worse because you couldn't even argue that it's the same brand, and unlike Peter, Pepsi isn't that much cheaper than coke.
The host was the biggest party foul for asking one person to buy drinks for the entire party. Either it's bring your own drinks or the host provides beverages.

Does the bottle size also factor into things cause Gwen, Miles, and Pavitr bringing just enough for themselves is funny that they'd assume they'd just be taking enough for themselves.
Of course Miguel would bring enough for everyone and go standard and by the book with it. Peter B. would pick that garbage off-brand (cause the bum aesthetic is now his thing) BUT he'd at least bring enough cause he's nice like that.
