Josh Green has been selected to represent Australia at the Olympics. Didn't play many minutes vs China but showed off his trademark athleticism with this put-back. Will be the starting 3 once things tip-off in Paris one would think.

Discussion Full Josh Green scouting report from a Mavs fan

History: We took him with the 18th pick in 2020 in a very controversial decision headed by Haralabob in our split front office. He was projected as a defensive guard with great athleticism and a very raw offensive game. Most fans thought hometown hero Desmond Bane was an easy choice and that caused a lot of resentment towards Green in his first couple years here. Green started off getting mostly DNPs in his rookie season, then played mostly unimportant minutes and garbage time as a sophomore before breaking into the rotation as a bench player in his third season.

Strengths: 100% hustle at all times, fights for every loose ball. Double plus speed makes him good at running in transition and making distant rotations. His passing vision is elite among role players, he will make some passes that very few other players would have seen. Capable 3 point shooter whose shot only recently developed. Athletic inside finisher, can finish at full speed and above the rim. Long arms for his height combined with a good vertical lets him contest shots well when he is in a good position. Still young and has shown slow but constant improvement.

Weaknesses: Does not have a good enough handle to be a secondary playmaker, often loses the ball and his elite speed doesn't show when he tries to dribble. Lateral quickness is not bad but it is the weakest part of his athletic profile. Off the dribble shot creation is very limited, needs someone else to set up his shots. Tendency to get lost in rotation on defense. Does not have the strength to consistently guard wings. He is very poor at navigating screens. Often hesitant to shoot the 3 despite shooting a good percentage last season.

Ceiling: As a prospect his defense was thought of as solid and his offense was the question. Now has shown he can be a part of a good offense but has not lived up to expectations on the other end. If he can learn the nuances of defense and become above average guarding 1-3 while continuing to maintain and make slight improvements to his shot, he should be a low end starter or high end bench piece glue guy on a contender.

Floor: If he doesn't improve his defense he'll still be close to average there, but his offensive limitations will become more painful. If this is his peak defensively or his offense falls apart without Luka feeding him wide open shots and alley oops, he may never be more than a sparkplug 9th man who is used to give energy to the team in certain matchups.

Conclusion: Despite all the Bane handwringing from our fans, we liked having Kangaroo Josh for the most part and no one could ever question his buy-in or effort. He has electric moments and has become a player that could help most teams. I have no doubt y'all will love him.

Miles Bridges, Josh Green, Reggie Jackson, Cody Martin, Brandon Miller, Nick Richards, Nick Smith, Grant Williams, and Mark Williams are all currently on our roster. We have a generic name super team right now.

Discussion Tidjane and Brandon about to be some yappers on the court

As we all know Brandon Miller has a phenomenal habit of letting out a nice midair ā€œYEAUGHHHHHHā€ on his more exceptional dunks to let you know heā€™s really about to baptize you or just hit a mean open court dunk.

I have noticed from watching Tidjaneā€™s French film he also likes es to hit those yells on big slams so together theyā€™re gonna be some certified yappers out there lol.

I feel like too many of our high draft picks/stars havenā€™t been athletic enough compared to the big teams and thatā€™s been whatā€™s holding us back. No offense but Iā€™m tired of skilled combo guards I want to see the bugs body some mfers for once this year. These two guys are a huge step in that direction.

Discussion There is no way we are still ā€œrebuildingā€

Why does everyone in the media seem to be saying that we are entering a rebuild? Maybe I have a screwed up sense of what this means but in my opinion this is the most talented Iā€™ve seen this roster in the past ten years.

Of course all of this revolves around the health of our best players. But when healthy, I canā€™t remember a time weā€™ve had this much young talent on the team with legitimate potential.

Without Wemby Brandon Miller is the consensus best player in the 2023 draft, hell Lamelo won rookie of the year. I understand we havenā€™t been good but why does no media acknowledge our potential? Or am I just delusional? Someone tell me if Iā€™m crazy because I canā€™t tell at this point.

To close, WE DONT EVEN OWN OUR FIRST ROUND PICK NEXT YEAR.

Thanks for reading my rant.
