For months voters have been telling pollsters that they have serious concerns about Biden's age and the response has been finger wagging and telling people to get in line.

Last night's disaster just proved their point. Heck, even I have concerns now. Of course I am never going to vote for an orange rapist, but this debate has done NOTHING to assuage the fears of age.

They are going to quadruple down and if Biden poofs into a pile of ashes before the election, the DNC will dig Dianne Feinstein out of her grave.

The DNC heard people saying "a corpse is better than Trump" and took it as a challenge.

Fuck every DNC leader.

u/busterak47 Florida 4d ago

last night's debate is exactly why there should have been a legitimate primary challenge with town halls and debates. Dems learned nothing from 2016. They force through their 'legacy' picks and the will of the voters be damned. Cheapens the hell out of their "defending American democracy at all costs" message when they refuse to listen to their constituency.

Anyone fed up with both parties should look to bury MAGA in 2024 and bury the DNC in 2028. It's time for real change.

u/CCDemille 4d ago

What you need to break American politics out of its deadlock is ranked choice vot8ng and give people a range of choices.

1

u/Deathismybitchlovur 3d ago

Why would Dems learn any lesson look in r/politics if the DNC presented a pile of shit everyone would fall in line and vote for it

38

u/imnotjohnstamos1 4d ago

You know it was a rough debate when I’ve seen that “a corpse is better than Trump” no less than 10 times today lol

15

u/By_Design_ Oregon 4d ago

And if you suggest, "ok how about this other corpse then," it's all "NO!!! NOT LIKE THAT" lol We're cooked

u/imnotjohnstamos1 4d ago

“Best offer I can make to replace Biden is Nancy Pelosi” 😂

u/BiscoBiscuit 4d ago

On Reddit or in real life?

u/Canes-305 4d ago

Fuck every DNC leader.

they are not leaders they are criminals who have sold our democracy to the highest bidder and spat in the face of every American and what this country stands for.

4

u/Top_Buy_5777 4d ago

It's a two-man con.

-5

u/Businesspleasure 4d ago

This is such a dumb take. The American people gave Biden a clear mandate to run for president and run again if he felt up for it, and he’s the one who made that decision, there’s no room full of puppet masters at the DNC making the call to nominate him

12

u/Canes-305 4d ago edited 4d ago

Mhmm sure and when was this “clear mandate to run for president and run again if he felt up for it”?

Was it when during the 2019/2020 primaries when his own campaign stated he would be a one term president and a transitionary figure bridging to the future generation of leadership?

Or was it when every single public polling has shown increasing unfavorable numbers for the president, increasing lack of confidence in his ability to do the jobnow let alone for another 4 years?

2

u/reddit_names 4d ago

When your slogan is "Vote blue, no matter who." This is the quality of candidate you get.

The DNC are the ones that were talking about replacing him last night.

6

u/By_Design_ Oregon 4d ago

cool lol 4 years too late. Better act fast. Fucking assholes

3

u/SchemeMoist 4d ago

Cleaning up their own mess, and far far far too late. They have a chance to pick a different candidate at the convention but it would have been much better to allow a primary and let the people have some say. But that's not how they roll, they make a catastrophic mess and when the consequences hit, they blame the voters for not falling in line behind their terrible choices.

2

u/viviolay 3d ago

Because they’re now getting calls from concerned donors.

-6

u/HypnoticONE California 4d ago

If they replaced him, it would mean they are admitting that they were wrong and misleading. Sadly, I think they'd rather rule of a collapsed party than step down. The whole "Democracy is on the ballot" schtick was BS all along.

36

u/Princess_Mintaka 4d ago

For months voters have been telling pollsters that they have serious concerns about Biden's age and the response has been finger wagging and telling people to get in line.

Any criticism of the Democratic party is an immediate label of support to the GOP and gets you classified as a "Trumper" so it's not surprising that voters having concerns is promptly ignored by the party. Because those concerns came from Trumpers! Obviously!

24

u/SchemeMoist 4d ago

I was called a republican because I said they should replace Biden. As if the republicans are not absolutely thrilled to have Biden as their opponent right now.

8

u/Princess_Mintaka 4d ago

It's any criticism. "I'm not a fan of" preceding any legitimate criticism is met with "so what are you, a TRUMP supporter?!" and it's the most annoying thing in the world.

5

u/PushThePig28 3d ago

It’s the same shit MAGA do calling republicans that don’t worship Trump Rinos but just the other side of the coin

1

u/sir_mrej 3d ago

Who would you replace him with? A specific name not a generic answer. Who?

Thanks for putting out words of fixing this problem. Most issues start at a local level, and balloon out. You're doing good work

64

u/longtermattention 4d ago

The messaging has pretty much been "Don't believe your lying eyes and ears." He's doing the same shit with defending Israel saying they aren't doing war crimes. Things you can clearly see for yourself

18

u/Magjee Canada 4d ago

The message is basically:

Look, either you stick with Biden, or you get the trump again?

You don't get to have good, you only get to have the threat of even worse

24

u/imnotjohnstamos1 4d ago

It’s impressively incompetent that given 4 years of prep time from winning in 2020, the best strategy the Democratic Party could come up with for reelection was running back “we aren’t Trump”.

They could’ve at least put a 50 yr old out there if the president doesn’t matter and “it’s all about the cabinet”

9

u/Magjee Canada 4d ago

Biden should have ended it after 1 term and let them have an actually primary

Primaries create a discourse over policies and allow the new candidate distance themselves from the current administrations decisions

Instead we are left with a president committing elder abuse on himself for the world to see

5

u/viviolay 3d ago

It’s wild cause they rightfully criticize then lack of a legit republican platform besides “we go with Trump” and yet thing “we aren’t trump” is enough to run on.

The irony.

7

u/CCDemille 4d ago

Yeah, and being the lesser evil candidate who wasn't Trump with a demoralised base is how Hillary lost to him in the first place.

2

u/Magjee Canada 4d ago

Yep

Biden largely won due to COVID

The first stretch in office was pretty good, but top of mind for people is the cost of living and they might think they were better off under trump

Not that I think he will fix things, but I can follow people's logic

-1

u/sir_mrej 3d ago

That’s how our system works. Welcome to being a grownup. We don’t get to choose unicorns

0

u/Magjee Canada 3d ago

What system would that be?

The democratic primary system was redone to allow party insiders to select the candidate and sidestep regular members votes 1/2 century ago

Being a grown-up doesn't mean you have to enjoy existing in a rugged system

It's not about generating a perfect candidate, it's about using a primary system to let people decide on one

Being grownup would be recognizing Biden shouldn't have run for a second term

Not denying reality and lying about how energetic and coherent he is (in cabinet meetings no one can view) and how he's going to easily win

It's delusional

1

u/sir_mrej 3d ago

I don't enjoy the current system

Sitting presidents almost never go through primaries. That's the current system. Yep, he shouldn't have run again. Should've said that on day 1. But here we are.

He's not energenic, he's not a great choice, but he's better than Trump.

As long as you vote Biden and tell others to as well, feel free to complain all you want

1

u/dltegme 3d ago

The debate was another 90 minute cheap fake

1

u/sir_mrej 3d ago

The moment biden chose to run again equaled get in line. That’s how our system works. It’s not a good system.

1

u/crazybehind 3d ago

He IS too old. There's no assuaging to be done about it.

People are legit screaming their legit and obvious concerns about the candidate. You ignore them at the peril of all of us.

Somebody better be working on plan B damnit.

We're voting for the people that come with the person, not the person.

For those people that come with the person...the person needs to win the election first.

It would be the literal end of US democracy putting Trump in another term, FFS.

So fucking replace him before it's too late. Jesus these comments are maddening. If it's so important (and I think it is) you can't run a guy who looks like he is on deaths door and can't keep his thoughts straight.

Anyone at all who is on the fence isn't voting for Biden.

8

u/not-my-other-alt 4d ago

We're voting for the people that come with the person, not the person.

This is literally what the lunatic right talks about when they say that Biden is a puppet to the Deep State. You know that, right?

Don't just admit the conspiracy but try to paint it as a good thing, you aren't doing anybody any favors.

4

u/ireaditonwikipedia 4d ago

I will never vote for Trump.

It's not people like me you have to convince, it's undecided voters in swing states. I don't see how anyone is switching their vote from undecided to Biden after last night's dumpster fire.

2

u/SchemeMoist 4d ago

Well your candidate is one of the only people guaranteed to lose to trump so, how is that going for you?

-5

u/GoodUserNameToday 4d ago

Proved what point? That Biden speaks slowly and softly? That doesn’t change the fact about what he’ll do which is pass fair taxes and fight climate change. Do you think voters are gonna care whether the president was a raging loud jerk or not when they have to pay an extra $2000 a year on consumer products?

8

u/not-my-other-alt 4d ago

I don't want the man I saw last night picking up the phone at 2am to learn that China is moving troops to Taiwan, or that Iran smuggled a nuke into Jerusalem, or that Putin has taken Kiev.

I don't want either of the men on stage last night to take that call, but I'm a lot less confident in Biden's ability to think on his feet in an emergency than I was two days ago.

I saw what happened to my Grandmother when she started sundowning, and it isn't pretty.

-5

u/bytethesquirrel New Hampshire 4d ago

I don't want either of the men on stage last night to take that call

https://youtu.be/HYghfyxtZnc?t=601 Would this person be fine?

-3

u/Static-Stair-58 4d ago

We saw these reactionary takes in full before the SOTU. Then he kicked butt and that all went away. I’m thinking there’s been a store of people who are still worried, and now that they have proof that Biden is a mumbling idiot (he isn’t, if you actually listened to what he was talking about he did fine). I even got downvoted and laughed at when I said there are people who want to change candidates. Not even a few months later and suddenly there tons of people who want him to step down again. Odd stuff.

12

u/ireaditonwikipedia 4d ago

He needed a SOTU level performance. The showing yesterday was pathetic and has done far more damage than good. Why they pushed for this debate early is beyond me.

3

u/ReddittorMan 4d ago

SOTU he reads off a teleprompter.

If anyone watched Biden speak off script you could see this coming a mile away.

-1

u/bytethesquirrel New Hampshire 4d ago

He needed a SOTU level performance.

Like this?

-1

u/Chimney-Walker 4d ago

https://www.youtube.com/live/HYghfyxtZnc?si=G1m1PF-B-uDcjEzT He did go on to give this speech this morning.

2

u/Accomplished-Cut5023 4d ago

Seems like they shouldn’t have a debate at night.

2

u/SchemeMoist 4d ago

Or maybe we could pick someone that doesn't have to go to bed at 5pm? Being president is a 24 hour job.

0

u/Accomplished-Cut5023 4d ago

Sure. But that’s not the case right now

2

u/SchemeMoist 4d ago

It's not too late for the DNC to try to clean up their catastrophic mess and have the delegates choose a different candidate. It's not too late for Biden to step down. That's what everyone should be calling for. Not coming up with ways to Weekend at Bernie's Biden into the white house like only doing debates after he's all hyped up after his morning oatmeal.

-2

u/sharp11flat13 Canada 4d ago

this debate has done NOTHING to assuage the fears of age.

This video from his speech today does however.
