I love how Fallout 76 is just so ignored in these conversations.

Like I haven't played it either but it's still hilarious.

Fallout 76 peaked today at 72k concurrent. That’s like double its old peak, which was the steam release.

Fallout 76 is particularly interesting because it's comparable to Infinite. Both had bad launches followed by years of updates to get them into a better position. The difference is that the Fallout show was good enough to convince people to give 76 another try (hence the new peak), while the Halo show made no noticeable impact.

Because the Fallout show was good

Most fun and unique MMO/MORPG out there in my experience.

It's not even an MMO in the traditional sense which is great. It's literally fallout if it was a full blown coop game with dedicated servers. Like I don't think people realize how technically advanced FO76 is say over fallout 4 for example (where the simulation is only happening around the player vs almost everywhere in FO76).

Even spawned quest NPCs across the map will be simulated for another player who will see that NPC and think "oh, just a random group roaming" and not even think about it being another players quest. The traders roam the map, literally traveling across an entire map in real time. We haven't even talked about the vast complex non-instanced interiors spawning mobs in them that can traverse in and out of them when there are dozens of AI in a city + players.

Fallout 76 is at an all time high and is getting a map expansion this season

It's a shame cuz it's pretty fun. It has good quests and a great map.

I reinstalled it and am playing around until the 4 update is released. There was quite a few people in all the servers so I'm sure it's seen an uptick. I'm just rebuilding my camp since my old was gone when I logged in.

They fucked up the performance bad by forcing 4k 60fps a year ago. I tried jumping in after about 2 years and It felt like I was getting an unstable 40-50FPS just building my camp in the middle of nowhere in the Toxic Valley.

It’s funny because the Fallout 4 next gen update won’t even be 4K 60FPS, because they know it would be too unstable.

Edit: Downvoting doesn’t change the fact that the game performs worse than it did when FPS Boost was an option.

You're right. I tried to play yesterday for the first time in a few years. It was actually giving me a headache. It also seems like there's really bad screen tear, too

I tried it at launch, and.... oof. It was easily the worst launch state game I've ever played. I know they've definitely improved it in many ways since then, and maybe it even feels like a proper Fallout now, but it left a real sour taste in my mouth between the bugs, the lack of traditional Fallout quests/NPCs, and the inventory system being a nightmare to sort through. Plus it was just plain ugly to look at back at launch, though that may have been fixed for all I know. The launch state of the game wasn't good, even if they have managed to fix it since then.

I want a new Fallout more than any other game, but I'm looking for a LEGIT Fallout, not an attempt at a new genre

I tried it as it was on Gamepass but I turned it off after an hour or so. It just failed to capture my attention in any way.

People are saying it got better but I'm reluctant to try.

I downloaded it the other day and immediately hated it.
