For context: i live in Italy and in most cities public transportation is decent.

I (20) have both a car and bike license, however i only own a motorcycle as i don't really need a car and the motorcycle is more of a hobby than an essential mean of transportation, i could go to work or grocery shopping by bus no problem.

My roomate (also 20) on the other hand refuses to get a license, he takes public transport everywhere, he thought about getting it just in case but eventually turned it down for now.

Most of my other friends have a car license but drive like 2/3 times a month, we usually take trains and buses to where we need to meet, unless it's in an hard to reach place and we take one or two cars and go all together.

I did have a couple bad experiences on public transportation and completely stopped using it for almost an year, but eventually i got over it as bad experiences happen not only there but everywhere inside and out of the house, and goddamn if it is convenient.
