If my nephew did that shit to me. He'd find himself stuck in a time out corner for the rest of 2024.

Hitting is not ok and not something to "wait out"

So when the 9 year old says FU I am not doing that what are you going to do. This kid is out of control and needs to be shown who is boss.

That's the parents problem. Slap them, kid doesn't seem like he's being taught right.

Percy redirect them. You coach them. They get punishments such as the timeout. That doesn't work you take away anything fun. And you only reward good behaviors and all negative behaviors get punished or something taken away. 

Kids normally reflect the behavior of the adult so if the adults act like ass hats in the kids act like ass hats

I ve found myself in a somewhat similar situation with my nephew, biggest difference is I mean a 1.90m tall dude, so Il assume less vulnerable than op. I spanked him and more than 10 years later I still regret it. With time I ve come to think I should have warned my sister/BIL I would hit them if they kept on enabling the violent behavior of their child, or even better avoid violence altogether.

Hitting an unarmed child is never the solution
