That’s a shame I’ll never forget the Batum game

He was a great fit with Jo tbh, sad

Best Entry Passer he had

that's weird. not an announcement of him signing somewhere else, just not here lol?

u/foggyfortune 2d ago

Maybe he is retiring after all.

82

u/lndngtm 2d ago

Or he was so offended by Spike’s plead for him to come back in a French accent

5

u/Cohenski 2d ago

But that's his natural speaking voice. Nothing to be offended at.

u/evanka5281 1d ago

Mike’s gotta take some heat here for encouraging it.

Sincerely,

A Mike guy

u/forthestreamz 2d ago

but it's not announcement of that either. it just says he won't come back here

1

u/xychosis 2d ago

He originally planned to retire anyway, he’s probably just going through with it

u/secretlypooping 2d ago

definitely a major bummer

Thanks for everything Nico, wish you had been a sixer for longer

I think this means he wants more than a minimum and we’re using the room exception on Oubre

Mistake

u/Chelli64 🤡 Celtics fan coming through 2d ago

There’s more guys in the league that can throw embiid an entry pass

u/Mrmdn333 2d ago

In fairness to Batum he’s the only one I’ve ever seen.

Put me in coach

Ignore that I’m 5’5 and a woman

17

u/WeirdSysAdmin 2d ago

You will be at least equal to Tobias Harris.

Batum was beyond useless in the Knicks series. Great regular season bench player, has a great skillset for this team, but just too damn old to scrap the way we need our wings to scrap in this conference.

24

u/Routine_Size69 2d ago

He was 16 and 7 on 5-7 shooting with 3 threes in his last game? Lmao. Useless?

8

u/hasordealsw1thclams 2d ago

And played solid defense. Can’t believe that’s getting upvoted

3

u/sokrazyitmightwork 2d ago

Now do the other 5 games. And he was getting completely abused on the boards.

5

u/IndigoJacob 2d ago

Eh. Batum produced for us 25% of games

7

u/RoscoeSantangelo 2d ago

Absolutely not, we desperately will need Oubre off the bench as 6th man and to replace PG every time he goes down

0

u/tugginmypeen 2d ago

Replacing PG is actually a fair point. Otherwise Batum is clearly the better player.

13

u/Myrese_Taxey 2d ago

You’d rather we let Oubre go?

-20

u/tomdooleyphl 2d ago

Honestly, kind of. Oubre had a great attitude and he’s very handsome, but he doesn’t really provide anything that the team desperately needs (shooting, playmaking). He’s an okay rebounder and he can be a good defender, but he’s kind of useless offensively.

22

u/-Captain--Hindsight 2d ago

He was the third leading scorer on this team last year. He would make a great 6th man if we get PG

4

u/Myrese_Taxey 2d ago

I wouldn’t say he’s useless. His shooting is alright and he’s a pretty good finisher. I also like how he defended in the Knicks series. Batum was great but who knows how he’d be next season with his age. Oubre is younger and athletic which is something we need.

0

u/tomdooleyphl 2d ago

He’s a great finisher and I agree that he can be a good defender. He’s far from an “alright” shooter and he’s a particularly low IQ player. I liked him on the minimum but I really don’t see how he fits in this team better than a guy like Thybulle did.

2

u/Myrese_Taxey 2d ago

Thybulle couldn’t score at all, Oubre can at least score at the rim. I think he fit perfectly fine on the team this year.

-3

u/tugginmypeen 2d ago

Of course lol.

40

u/indoninjah 2d ago

Damn. I hope he’s retiring cuz it’s really gonna sting if he goes elsewhere

30

u/ComeAtMeYo 2d ago

He did more for us in one season than Tobi did in five years. Single-handedly was the difference maker against Miami in the play-in, while Tobi has folded like a lawn chair time and time again. Thank you Nico!!

u/mlewy 2d ago

Nooooooo Nicoooooo

18

u/TornManingus TTP 2d ago

B U M M E R

Guy made winning plays and got Jo the ball in the right spots. Going to be hard to replace him.

18

u/browser558 2d ago

Why don't he want me

16

u/bubbles1990 2d ago

I hope he’s retiring then 🥺

9

u/Plenty_You8835 2d ago

noooooooooooooo

16

u/PhatYeeter 2d ago

The fact that this report doesn't have info about what teams he's meeting with, I wonder if he's just retiring.

8

u/ChaseYoungHTTR 2d ago

Just fell to my knees in Wawa

7

u/Appropriate-Hippo758 2d ago

Is this just them renouncing his rights? If so that was to be expected…

8

u/sixersfan87 2d ago

Damn, I think he's retiring since no other team was mentioned in this tweet.

6

u/zz_x_zz 2d ago

RIP to the only guy we've had in the Embiid era who could throw a simple, accurate entry pass.

6

u/BabaBrody 2d ago

Kelly Iko, who spent 6 months going on podcasts "confirming" Harden back to Houston.

4

u/Appropriate-Hippo758 2d ago

I wonder if he’s just mistakenly saying this because we renounced his rights?

Cause that was to be expected. We have to renounce Batum, Melton, Buddy anyway.

3

u/Electrical-Ad-1437 2d ago

Well yeah because he never left. right? Right???? RIGHT????

3

u/_R_A_W_ THAT'S A'MOREY! 2d ago

Play-In legend 🫡

3

u/Silver-You2951 2d ago

I liked his fit on the team but I Hess he’s retiring. I will forever respect him as a sixers legend for that Heat game.

3

u/NoCup4U 2d ago

That’s too bad.  I liked him on the team

2

u/njspb8 2d ago

That’s not good

2

u/CruisinTortoise 2d ago

how are we meant to inbound now

2

u/eagles1990 2d ago

Losing The Minivan and Boom Boom Nico Batum.....

Kate Scott in shambles right now

2

u/ReservoirBaws 2d ago

God damn can we have him coach guys on throwing entry passes to Embiid? Him actually being able to get passes deep in the paint instead of having to post up 20 feet out was huge for us this season

2

u/OrangeMonkE It's delusion season 2d ago

Fuck, I’m guessing he’s retiring.

1

u/SonofHinkie 2d ago

This is actually terrible news. Damnit, nico

1

u/IEatDeFish 2d ago

there goes our starting 4

1

u/SKoreaSixerFan 2d ago

Damn Nico..

1

u/jakers300 2d ago

Definitely a shame but wish him all the best

1

u/CantaloupeMafia 2d ago

feel like he might just be seeing if a team will overpay for him, and if not he’ll just retire or sign during the season.

1

u/jpv1031 2d ago

That sucks, really would have liked to see what 1 more year with him would look like.

1

u/RoscoeSantangelo 2d ago

It's joever

1

u/TrustDaFriendship 2d ago

Wow this sucks

1

u/[deleted] 2d ago

Bummer! did a really nice job for us

1

u/nugcityharambe 2d ago

Damn that sucks

1

u/Head-Kiwi-9601 2d ago

We now have zero players that can inbound the ball.

Is that a problem?

1

u/thrutherain 2d ago

We barely even have a roster as it is right now

1

u/4amvampire 2d ago

Kyle Anderson can also throw entry passes. Just sayin…

1

u/dripthing 2d ago

Damn. Thank you Nico...

1

u/FamousChex 2d ago

I disagree

1

u/MitsuSosa 2d ago

No fan base will appreciate him the way we did wish he would stay

1

u/Serpico2 2d ago

I wonder (and hope) it’s because we’re getting KCP, which would require sacrificing Batum’s salary.

1

u/percy2376 2d ago

Is it because he is retiring following the Olympics or is planning on signing elsewhere?

1

u/Muted_Earth_8582 2d ago

WHO THE FUCK IS GOING TO PLAY THE 4?

1

u/Obvious_MD 2d ago

Fell to my knees at Wawa

1

u/ChrisPollock6 2d ago

This dude doesn’t know what the fuck he talking about?

1

u/mp455 1d ago

If this team had 5 Nico Batum equivalents during Embiids career, we wouldve won a championship by now.

1

u/darcy1537325 1d ago

Just saw a guy fall to his knees at target

1

u/D_G_C_22 1d ago

Coming to Mavs

0

u/Admirable_Essay3440 2d ago

Most players care about money only. He can get a bigger contract elsewhere!

-1

u/Thegrandmistressofoz 2d ago

Why the fuck would we tell him we're not resigning if he's not retiring

-3

u/IcyAd964 2d ago

If he signs somewhere else we might be cooked

-6

u/Business_Tomorrow_41 2d ago

MOREY🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
