It is not like declaring them makes them not bribes. Why do you think those billionaires gave Thomas $millions in gifts, instead of e.g. giving that money to me?

And even then, it doesn't matter. It's up to him to decide if there is a reason to recuse himself from a case, no higher court to worry about deciding that he should have, and no real penalty. Supreme Court was supposed to be a lifetime appointment to make sure they could operate based solely on law without pressure from the executive and legislative branches. Instead it's become a lifetime of do whatever you want.
