I was lost in the wilderness in the Adirondacks for 3 hours before I found a trail and it seemed like 3 years. Absolutely terrifying to be lost in the woods. I can’t even imagine 10 days.
I was above tree line and went over a ledge on what I thought was the trail. I got quite a way down before the trail faded and eventually disappeared. I searched ahead rather than turning back and climbing back up to the trail. I NOW know what I did wrong, but back then I was pretty inexperienced. I was sure I was near a cross trail but had actually gone in a totally different direction
