T-minus 30 minutes; Get in for the IHart returns prayer circle

[Bondy] I will say this after covering the NBA for a long time. If you're meeting with the team, it means you're not sure yet. Something needs to be sold. Money doesn't need to be negotiated in person.

The team has had dialogue on trades involving Jericho Sims, whose team option for 2024-25 was picked up yesterday. The Knicks like Sims and he could serve as a backup if there is movement at the center position.

We are now the team that vets take discounts to chase a ring with and Leon decides if HE wants YOU.
I am very content with our team as it stands, especially if we keep iHart. Other than signing Taj for the culture, I'm perfectly fine with staying pat. We have McBride, Donte, Hart, hopefully Mitch off the bench, that rounds out our top 9.
There's a strong case to not sign anyone else who would expect playing time because just as easily as you can have too little depth, you can also create friction in a locker room and bad vibes by not having enough playing time for everyone who expects it.
With all this said, I have to imagine CP3 and his agent would be very interested in joining our team. The question is, would we want him as it'll take minutes away from McBride and Donte.
The only way I would consider signing him is if he agrees to the vet minimum AND understands he may not play every game. When he does, it could be 10 or 20 MPG. Either way, trust in Leon!

Wingspan ranking out of 90 registered SFs in the league: OG-5th (7'2.25), Mikal-12th (7'1)
With Randle (7' wingspan) and Mitch (7'4) / iHart (7'2.25) in there, our AVERAGE wingspan for positions 2-5 in the starting lineup will be around 7'1.
Thibs probably hasn't come off the white powder ever since the trade went through bro, that man is plotting so many devious things in his head rn.

Revisiting the 2011 Carmelo Anthony Trade
This trade had a lot of moving parts.
Ultimately, the Knicks received a HOF in Carmelo Anthony and the Nuggets received a future pick swap that landed Jamal Murray.

BREAKING: Magic Sign Kentavious Caldwell-Pope
Big iHart suitor likely out.
I think it's going to come down between OKC and us.
I know the market is crazy, but if there's no teams bidding on you, then iHart may really come back to us.

UNC / Knicks fans out there?
I will never forget Villanova tearing UNC’s heart out in 2016. Now I root for this Nova redux team. Just keep Kris Jenkins away from the Knicks and I think I can stomach it.

Sources: The New York Knicks won’t extend a $6.27 million qualifying offer to Precious Achiuwa, @hoopshype has learned. Achiuwa will become an unrestricted free agent after averaging 7.6 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks in 24.2 minutes per game with the Knicks last season.

Immediately after the deal, the Knicks felt that there would be feasible ways to avoid the first apron hard-cap. They can do so by trading Miles McBride ($4.7 million salary for 2024-25) or signing and trading either Alec Burks or Precious Achiuwa, per Yossi Gozlan

Folks…relax about the hard cap
Just a word of encouragement, so no disrespect intended to anyone that’s worried about the hard cap triggers: the bottom line is, competent guys like Brock Aller are there to navigate the cap, and they know every way to do it. No one needs to worry about whether or not they can avoid the first apron hard cap—they can and likely will, in order to fill out the roster.
That said, whether or not they can re-sign Hartenstein is another question (it’ll be up to him whether he wants to sign for the Knicks max or a larger max on another team). But if he chooses another team, it won’t be because of a hard cap, and the Knicks will likely work past the first apron anyway to sign his replacement.

Which rookies stay?
I think Kolek is an immediate contributor, but Mccullar, pacome diadet, and hukporti seem to be in line for 2 ways or draft and stash. So is only Kolek going to be the one staying in?
