Kinda surprised they're more busy during lunch. Olive Garden always seemed like a dinner place to me. But maybe they're near some corporate offices.

Former OG GM here. 300+ covers (guest count) for lunch is not too bad. They will probably finish with 900ish covers for the day. They have have pretty high addon sales. Anything over $5 is great. I will say that their appetizer sales is pretty high. If someone orders an app for dinner they don’t get guest count. 133 apps is like 1 in 5 guests getting an app. If every Friday was like this, they are probably a 5-6 million in annual sales restaurant. Last OG I was GM at, we were a 6mil a year restaurant and profited 18%. You do the math. OG makes some serious $$$. Multiple by 900 or so restaurant. I’m pretty sure the Time Square OG is about 15mil or more a year in sales. I started at the bottom. They were a great company to work for.

I agree. Personally I like to stop at the Times Square Sbarro for an authentic New York slice.

New York, New York. The city so nice they named it twice

haha i love sbarro. i had it at the laguardia on my way out and sadly it was the best slice i had while i was there. new york style regular old pepperoni is hard to beat

I just love big slices of pizza and its hard to find in most of the country. Nothing beats an actual NYC slice though. Even though the usual you find for cheap is pretty bad quality, something about it is just perfect. A 'The whole is greater than the sum of the parts' kind of situation.

It's the crust, the grease, and the size.

100% agree. that's why i like NY style best. don't get me wrong, i still like chicago style, but that's more like a casserole haha. and while i still like supreme and all the other options (even meat-lover's), i still like the class thin NY-style slice of pepperoni. the closest i can usually find in KC is Original Pizza at the mall. most other places do thicker slices and they fancy them up a bit. for me, perfect is something close to what sbarro does. it's just perfection

now if i could convince the industry to start using lactose free milk to make cheese with....

I connect Sbarro more with this mall we used to go to in Connecticut. I wouldn't exactly call it an authentic NYC slice.
