Okey but then... Like, there is a trace where that burner account sent the money?

It would be pretty interesting to know the details of it, from an outside perspective it seems like a no brainer that police could contact those corporations and see where the burner account sent the money

There are many restrictions on what the police can do, especially for things like things like this which (sad but true) come down to petty theft. Someone money laundering millions? Yeah sure, banks and police will go after that (if they even spot that at all), but things like this, you'd need to file a report, have evidence, go to court, then that court mandates the banks to release info to the police about that account (which will probably be a burner account as well, it's common to get youngsters to open accounts in their name for a small buck, then use that account to slush funds through), so then you'd have to trace that as well, which usually goes axross borders. Now you need to involve another country (if they are even inclined to cooperate), their police, their court systems and laws, their banks, and start everything all over again.

Unless it revolves around organised crime or large amounts, it most often is not worth it / futile
