Not looking to argue, just verifying. American culture can sometimes seem bizarre and apathetic so I was perfectly willing to believe there were places where what he said could be true, but hoped it was not

I don't mean that as an insult and tried to be clear with the phrasing of 'can seem' to stress that. It's just that as someone who does not live in America our only window into what's going on over there are posts like this on the internet, and I was being sincere

A lot of what you hear from American redditors are quite doom and gloom
