I want one. But, I don't know if I can handle the idea of only owning one for a couple of years before it dies.

It hurt so bad. I had two sisters. One lived 3 years but developed a tumor and passed away. The other lived one more year and developed a tumor too and was really struggling on the last day so I rushed her to the vet to put her down. I was a wreck the whole time. Beautiful creatures and amazing pets. I miss them so much

Edit: I'd like to add that they're crazy smart, it's awesome. One story I love to tell is that she got out of her cage one time and found her way to my bedroom, climbed on my bed and crawled onto my chest and just chilled there. Scared the hell out of me when I first woke up but I realized it was her and thought it was so cool

Seriously, if it wasn't for their short lifespan, I would love to have pet rats. They are so damn sweet and affectionate.
