Xbox hasn't had an exclusive game nominated to the Game Awards for 10 years now. :Discussion: Discussion

Then to OP, why does exclusivity matter?

Here's a wicked thought; you do not have to partake in a discussion which holds no importance to you?

Why does it matter to you?

Because, up to this point, I do not believe Microsoft has gotten even close to the most from their IPs and the money it's taken to acquire them.

This is a hell of a lot of acquisitions with very little to show, IMO. Activision/Blizzard + Zenimax is over 75 BILLION USD.

Time will tell if they are able to buck the trend or if all this money is a sunk cost (I do not believe so, but Xbox/Microsoft needs to make waves NOW).

What does this even mean?

The Activision/Blizzard deal hasn't even gone through yet. And games take time to develop.

They’ve had over a decade to make something compelling and haven’t. You want to wait another decade before they start making hits comparable to Sony and Nintendo?

They didn't start making serious new acquisitions until late in the Xbox One life cycle. Up until then they were in a process of restructuring. And with many of those acquisitions came games that were in development and followed soon after. Since then, games have been in development, as development takes a lot of time. Games don't magically materialize from thin air in just a matter of a few years. New AAA games take a minimum of about 5 years to develop. And many of these studios grew significantly after acquisition. This presents additional challenges.

Sony has the benefit of having a more stable foundation for developing games. They have a number of studios who are pretty well oiled and efficient at this point. But there is also a reason why we only know of one game coming from Sony Studios next year and haven't even seen anything more than a teaser so far.

I hope you’re getting paid for this amount of apologizing, excusing, and damage control.

I'm simply being logical. I know when they finally started acquiring studios to develop content and how much time it takes to make content. I'm not saying that the Xbox One didn't go through an incredibly rough patch and that their major acquisitions from 2018, 2019, and up to today weren't able to have games ready for 2020 releases.

But they have over 30 active major studios making games. This is up from like 5 a decade ago. Games are coming. It would be ridiculous to think otherwise. Will they be good/great? We'll have to wait and see.

What does this even mean?

"Why does this matter? What does this mean?"

Have you noticed everyone is effortlessly understanding what you cannot even fathom to grasp? Either stop acting an idiot or learn to apply the tiniest bit of critical thinking before you reply, cheers hun xx

We all understand that Microsoft has had a rocky past when it comes to releasing 1st party content on Xbox. But you are pointing to an acquisition that hasn't cleared yet.

We all understand

No no.. WE all understood. YOU finally understand 100 comments later, at least I hope you finally do.

Again, I said "time will tell' with regards to Activision/Blizzard. That does not negate the dozens of other acquisitions up to this point (many of them 10+ years ago) and their fairly lackluster IPs up to this point.

Please, learn to carefully read and apply critical thinking. You're making points which have been acknowledged in previous comments - making you appear either an idiot or argumentative for arguments sake. Likely both tbh.

You'll get there.

many of them 10+ years ago

Uh, no. The vast majority of their studio building was within the last 5 years. And many of those studio acquisitions happened as a game was being released and we're much smaller studios prior to the acquisition. Most of these studios have doubled or trippled their size and started new projects. Most AAA games take 5-7 years to develop. This is why you didn't see immediate results from those acquisitions.
