The Kinect might have worked to differentiate the console from the PlayStation 4 if they'd actually released some games. You can lament it's lost potential but early Xbox one owners waited patiently for a killer app to justify the extra cash and were given a way too late sequel to a Wii sports knock off.

If they'd put some effort in we might have had some cool light-gun games without needing a gun or some more intresting platform games. Instead 90% of 'compatible with Kinect' games just used it as a glorified microphone.
