This generation has been underwhelming Discussion

I bought a Series X at launch, and can’t think of a single game that has impressed me this gen. I’m a big Halo fan, and Halo Infinite felt like a letdown. I’m a Forza fan, and Forza Motorsport felt like a massive disappointment. I was exited for Starfield, but was underwhelmed after playing it.

It just feels like we’ve had no heavy hitters this gen, even 3rd party AAA games have been average at best. I guess the only hope I have left is with Gears 6, but aside from that, Microsoft needs to get their act together and start releasing some new games. It feels like games are taking way too long to make these days, we used to get bangers every year in the 360 gen. Even the Xbox One had more compelling games than what we have now

Cyberpunk, baldurs gate 3, starfield, Harry potter, and Diablo 4 were all games me and my wife really enjoyed last year. There are big games coming out, they just might not be appealing to you

A bit off topic, but would you recommend Harry Potter to someone who likes big, open world games, but has seen a total of 3 minutes of one movie and read none of the books? It looks like a great game, but I have zero knowledge of the lore.

Well I’m not that guy but honestly, I don’t think you’ll enjoy it all that much if you don’t already love the world. It’s a decent first foray into AAA for Avalanche (they only did like crappy movie tie-in games beforehand) but it’s really quite shallow in a lot of places. The primary enjoyment that might hook you and and let you be forgiving towards its shortcomings is the extremely unique opportunity to interact with a fully realized Hogwarts and wizarding world. For people who grew up with that castle, it feels like a miracle. For those who didn’t… I can’t imaging them being all that captivated
