This generation has been underwhelming Discussion

I bought a Series X at launch, and can’t think of a single game that has impressed me this gen. I’m a big Halo fan, and Halo Infinite felt like a letdown. I’m a Forza fan, and Forza Motorsport felt like a massive disappointment. I was exited for Starfield, but was underwhelmed after playing it.

It just feels like we’ve had no heavy hitters this gen, even 3rd party AAA games have been average at best. I guess the only hope I have left is with Gears 6, but aside from that, Microsoft needs to get their act together and start releasing some new games. It feels like games are taking way too long to make these days, we used to get bangers every year in the 360 gen. Even the Xbox One had more compelling games than what we have now

MSFS has been the only “wow” moment for me this generation.

Never would have guessed since I thought that when you abbreviate a long title, every letter is it's own word respectively

Microsoft has always been ms

When you put a whole group of words together like that, I couldn't figure out what it was. MS by itself makes sense. But it's just when you combine a lot of words together because you want to abbreviate it does it look like S was it's own unique word. If micro and soft were separate then I would understand that

Not to mention the other S in the title is it's own word so naturally I assume that the S was it's own aswell

It's pretty commonly abbreviated as MSFS, it's not like he pulled it out of his ass or anything.

You’re being too pedantic. There’s no rule that abbreviations or acronyms have to begin with the first letter of the word, nor are there rules that they can’t use multiple letters from a word in an acronym.

Examples:

MOND - modified Newtonian dynamic
CAPEX - capital expenditures
FOREX - foreign exchange
OPEX - operating expenses
ECHO - echocardiogram
EEG - electroencephalogram

It's not that I don't think it should be like that. It's that based on how brains work. It's much easier and faster to go letter To word to letter word rather than letter To letter To word to letter To letter To word. Sure this is more my opinion but it just seems way easier to go by a letter To word reference. I read MOND and then the full words and it literally took me a second to realize that the O is from the modified because I don't ever read abbreviations that do that. There is an easy way to fix that difference tho and that's just by putting a period after every word like V.A.T.S for example.

Also I feel that I wasn't clear on whether I was talking about acronyms or abbreviations but to clarify since we know that acronyms are read out as each letter individually, I'm not trying to needle anyone about anything specific in regards to what was previously mentioned. I was just laying out my reasons as to why I found msfs to be something I've never heard of since I dont normally see two letters making one word combined with letters each refering to their own word.

It's not a big deal just forget about
