Like what? There isn’t anything to fit the Bethesda style open world. Especially this year.

There isn’t anything to fit the Bethesda style open world

Starfield doesn't fit it either what are you on about lol, 90% of Bethesda games have proper handcrafted words and are better in almost every way than starfield outside of graphics and combat

Well it fits the gameplay flow and pacing for me. It’s still a Bethesda game to me.

Yeah a worse Bethesda game than they made previously sure

Why would you argue this with someone who is having fun with something? Do you get a kick out of trying to ruin things for people?

Me saying something is objectively worse in some ways doesn't ruin anything for anyone, if it did then they clearly didn't enjoy it themselves, grow up, its called criticism

Me saying something is objectively worse

subjectively worse. as in its your opinion. grow up, and learn that what you believe is not universally held to be important. also maybe get a dictionary.

subjectively worse

No, there are objectively things starfield did worse, its not just "my opinion" that some old bethesda games followers that had their own worldview and weren't carbon cutouts and almost identical beliefs wise. It's not my opinion that there are less handcrafted locations that make for far more generic level exploration, and that's just scratching the surface. You're one of those people who'd say mouldy bread is only "subjectively bad", some people like it!

bethesda dickriders are the both tiresome people on the internet, like a billion dollar company needs their boots licked and every mistake defended by hordes of fanboys no matter what. Starfield does a lot of things worse than Skyrim, no debate, its provable., it's like saying a sandwich with cheese is more boring than a fancy one, its just an observation

if someone doesnt like eggplant most people just accept that and move on instead of trying to convince them that they would like eggplant more if they ate a lot of it.

It's the exact thing like with Elden ring again. Not every game is made for everyone, some people just dont enjoy certain games, and thats okay.

I'll probably pick up BG3 just for the mass effect style dialogue and characters.

I'll be setting it on the easiest setting possible though.

It’s always sad watching fanboys act like this. It’s apparent that they have none of their own accomplishments and hope to bask in some of Larian’s reflected glory as if liking the game is some kind of feat. Like in college football when fans of mid SEC teams try doing the SEC chant in out of conference games. Like yeah, it’s a great conference/game. But you had nothing to do with that.

It really is absurd with BG3, too. A game that is really good but Reddit has overhyped it to such an extreme level that even though I like it (not love it) I feel like I have to be contrarian just because. It's not a perfect game by any means.

It doesn't matter why someone doesn't like something, the validity of their opinion to themselves doesn't require that anyone else approves or agrees.

Don't try to control someone's agency.

This is why gamers get a bad rep. It's insane how many people in this thread would rather die on their hill than accept someone else might prefer Starfield over Baldur's Gate 3 or whatever other game the zeitgeist considers to be its darling.

Lol you're just so smug over pixels haha.

"MY HOBBY PREFERENCES ARE BETTER THAN YOURS!" lol

I tried playing DoS. It was boring. It’s just a pace thing. I’m not wrong for liking somethings more than others.

3

u/[deleted] Nov 20 '23

Eh thats like telling someone they'll like a racing game even if they don't like racing

It's a fair opinion to have. Baldurs Gate 3 is niche. It's probably the best niche game ever made but its not for everyone.

It’s funny because the speech/convince system in Starfield is a literal dice roll, you just don’t see the dice

1

u/mspk7305 Nov 20 '23

Starfield doesn't make you do a 2d20+6 or whatever to figure out what ability to use and thats the greater point. Sure you are using the random number generator with your 86% accurate rifle but what you know is that its 86% likely to hit the pixel your crosshair is on and damn near 100% likely to hit one very close to it for the number printed on the box.

The way the user perceives the random system matters to the feel of the game.

🤓

“Um, ack-CHOO-ally…!”

That is very funny! I’m sure you’re a hit at parties.

BG3 is not a rich open world…it’s not even an open world. It’s also point in click movement with turn-based combat. Not saying it’s bad, it just isn’t very comparable to a game like Starfield or open world ARPGs in general outside of it being an RPG.

1

u/cardonator Craig Nov 20 '23

Exactly, and the world has next to no interactivity, and if you think people are going nowhere in Starfield, well literally every NPC in BG3 is waiting for you to interact with them. It's a very different style of game.

3

u/regalfronde Nov 20 '23

Just to be clear, that’s okay in BG3, but it’s bad in Starfield.

0

u/regalfronde Nov 20 '23

BG3 is not an open world. It’s a linear narrative driven experience with turn-based combat. The two games are not even remotely similar.
