I'm visiting for a week from Charleston and want to see what the triangle has to offer What are yalls thoughts? I'm looking for nicer places but not against a good bar. Looking for a couple higher end recommendations for a celebration also. Wide palates so don't worry about food style

The Venus flytrap specialty license plate has finally been approved by the General Assembly!

The plate has amazing artwork by Durham artist Preston Montague. Part of the proceeds from sales will go to the North Carolina Botanical Garden Foundation.

Now the DMV has to catch up on pre-orders, and it will take a while until the plate is available. But I can't wait to see it on the streets and highways.

I have the unfortunate responsibility of rehoming a very nice lab mix. I'm not sharing to give the story.

Only that I want to find a good home for her and don't know where to go. I live in Cary. I want to feel very confident in the home she goes too.

Any rescues that would help?

Hey all, I've been thinking about possibly exploring moving to North Carolina. I'm currently single, and living in Cleveland, Ohio. I don't have many friends if any left here, all I have is my family really. I've been feeling really alone and thought maybe a change to a more lively area like NC would do me good. I'd prefer somewhere that is a bit more lively with young professionals (not necessarily downtown). I've been kind of looking at the Charlotte area, but hear Durham could also be a good candidate. I'm not sure if any of you could provide any insight, but just feel a bit lost at the moment. Would you all also recommend maybe staying a month in one of these areas via AIRBNB? Thank you..

Hey Triangle folks! I'm currently living in downtown Durham, paying about $1000 for my share of a 2b2b apartment. I'm looking to move to a new place, preferably a spacious 1b1b with covered parking if possible. I've been searching around and noticed a trend:

• Apartment complexes in my desired areas are ranging $1500-$1600, slightly above my budget.
• I've found some independent houses (is that the right term?) that are larger and well under my budget, but with a longer commute.

My office is in the Research Triangle Park area. While apartment complexes offer perks like mail rooms, key fob entry, and better security for deliveries, I'm curious about the independent house option.

Questions:

-What are the potential downsides to renting an independent house in the area? -Are there any specific areas I should look into for good deals on 1b1b apartments or houses? -Any tips for finding places in the $1000-$1400 range that aren't too far from RTP?

Need to pickup at airport this afternoon and no news site seems to have any road closure information but Google shows I-540 closed until 6:30 and there are closure symbols on I-40. Anybody confirm the closures or have better information?

It feels like RDU gets worse every time I am here. It used to be such a good airport. But now it feels like there are huge crowds, long lines, no parking, dirty bathrooms. Today we landed and waited nearly 30 minutes for a gate agent to be able to open the plane door. It feels like they’re becoming increasingly short staffed as they add more and more flights, and it doesn’t seem like anything is being done to improve the pain anytime soon.
