I can't imagine that the general framework of a deal wasn't discussed at some level of detail when they brought him over from Toronto. It also seems highly unlikely that they would intentionally disappoint him in the service of some transparent "negotiating tactic." But, as usual, this is all smoke behind closed doors with the Knicks, regardless of what's reported.
