[Windhorst] OG Anunoby is not ‘thrilled’ with the Knicks’ current offer and will test the market: “Let’s keep an eye on that. Most people believe he will stay with New York, but there have been indications he may want to test the market, because he’s not thrilled with what the Knicks are offering.”

Which player lol. Are they just going to conjure up this made up player you created out of thin air. And the player you said sounds like a player that every team in the league would want so how would we even get them without dumping assets

Again that’s for the front office, I’m simply saying how they are most likely thinking. I doubt they are going to throw MORE money at a player that simply doesn’t play. And I can’t answer that because we still don’t even know what players are available,

how many times has us as Knicks fans said “man if only ___ could stay healthy”?

There’s no way we come off a playoff series with 7 injuries and expect to Front Office to not even consider health as a major factor.

TONS of great players in the league are skipped over because they can’t stay healthy, 76ers was a Playin team because they couldn’t stay healthy, and as great as Embiid is if they wanted to trade him, his health would be a major factor.

Same with OG, if we resign him, and his health gets worse we’ll have to trade him anyway and get even less for him, or worse be stuck with an expensive contract for a player we KNEW was injury prone and might regress to unplayable

OG has played in 418 of 544 games in his career. OG averages 3 more games played than the average nba starter per season. Injuries are part of the game now. There are very few players who average 70+ games/year. There are some injury concerns but the Knicks are not going to let a restricted free agent walk, making their available max cap space go down by ~$40m and make any mid season trade for a star infinitely more difficult.

You’re Greatly fluffing the Numbers

The past 5 seasons he’s number have NEVER been over 70 and 3 of those five are 50 and under

How did I “fluff the numbers” when I posted the exact number he played and missed. You seem to be forgetting that 1 of his sub 50 game years is the Covid year as well.

Also, “The 57-page report emphasized the fluctuation between star players missing games. Between the 1990s to today, the average number of games missed per season by those defined as star players rose considerably. In the '90s, it was 10.6 games. In the 2020s, it's 23.9 games.”

Star players average 58 games played per season. No one is denying there are injury concerns but OG is completely average when it comes to injury proneness.

Because you’re making it sound like he’s above average in games, when the avg is around 65 , You even said he’s above average in games played, when the last 5 is an average of 55. Also this number doesn’t account for perfectly fine players sitting out games because they are saving them among other not injury related games missed.

What you should look at is how he is trending and how he is progressing lower overall

It’s 58.1 not 65. You can’t use maintenance days as an excuse. The fact that he doesn’t need them is a plus compared to a guy like embiid.

I said perfectly average. For his career, he’s 3 above the average. For the last 5 years, he’s 3 below the average. Take it as a whole, he’s average.

Missing 3 games more than the average in a 5 year span isn’t a reason to choose Dario Saric on a vet minimum over OG. That’s the type of player we’d be talking about.

Again you’re fluffing, using overall and ignoring him trending downward should be considered

Sure, he’s slightly trending downwards. That slight trend from +3 to -3 of the average means youd rather have a vet minimum player over him?

I rather have a player that is at least consistent or trending towards longevity. If we don’t make if next year OG is only gonna get more injured and the long he’s here the worst it’s gonna get and you want to sign him for longer? For OG it literally feels like if we sign him, it’s next year or bust because it’s only downhill from there.

OG is 26. None of his injuries are considered chronic (ie. torn meniscus). He could very easily average 60 games a season for the next 4-5 years.

None of the guys available on vet minimums are going to be “trending towards longevity.” These will be guys like patty mills and Markieff morris.

You think given OG history he is long term?
