They're doing a MUCH better job of setting up Robot's relationship with Monster Girl and explaining his drive to help her.

It's clear that Kirkman is looking back at Invincible and adding great changes that have been informed by all of his new experience, and I really appreciate that.

This is why I'm excited. Love the comic, looking forward to how they adapt it further.

That, and an early hint to the cloning

I really thought it was going to be Angstrom, but works really well with robot. Makes him seem evil for those who don't know his arc in the comics

It's likely that they are going to do it within the next 3 episodes or so, judging by the breakout.

I thought the cloning only happens after the death

The cloning happened before the killing though.

It feels like the Series of Unfortunate Events series that the original author wrote. He even considers that the definitive version of the story.

It'd be wild to see how things are handled going forward.

Yeah they are also hinting at him being more ominous than in the beginning of the comics, with him helping the mauler twins escape. I feel like that is the type of changes im not as into. In the comics the big twists seem natural but surprising even on repeat readings but in the show they seem to be setting up so much stuff which i fear removes some of the weight of the surprise. Even like hinting at nolans darker intentions. Just feela less subtle than the comic.

He talked about that on his appearance on Fatman Beyond, he said that since he’s writing each episode he’s going back and looking at the issues and is all like “what is this, this sucks” and can then apply everything he’s learned since then to the shows scripts in addition to the base he already has from the comic. It’s a good listen even if only for his feature

I watched that episode of Fatman Beyond live! Kev and Marc did a great interview.

I hope Kirkman makes additions that make sense, but the last thing I want to see are significant changes. If you've seen the anime Promised Neverland (or hell, the original Fullmetal Alchemist) then you know how bad it can get when the author deviates from a perfectly good story.

Or...hell, even Walking Dead. Kirkman's comic was fantastic damn near the entire way through, but the show has been a huge mess much of the time, thanks to the changes.

Big difference with FMA (and I think Walking Dead too. Haven’t actually seen or read it) but the manga wasn’t done when the anime was made. They ran out of source material and did their own thing. Invincible has the entire source material there plus the benefit of hindsight to fix stuff. It’s going to end up sick
