I feel bad for Amber. She almost had her spine ripped out MK style just because. This isn’t a game.

She’s been nothing but understanding. Dealt with Mark leaving weeks to months at a time. Covers for him. And when she finally gets quality time with her bf; Anissa almost yanks her head off for funzies. There’s no winning at this point.

"She's been nothing but understanding" is interesting, it's odd she just, *completely* dropped her stance from S1E7. I swear she was swapped with an imposter that episode cause she hasn't acted anything like that since. Like, she really has been understanding, she recognises her situation, etc, normal people stuff.

honestly yeah, like i dont mind her post s1e7 personality, but the switchup from before to after has been rubbing me the wrong way the whole time

yeah seems fake like she completely changed her character and lives now only to date mark. i think it actually took away from her character. she was annoying in season 1 but at least she had a bit of backbone. now she basically only existed to be marks girlfriend

i think you hit the nail on the head lol. its funny too, because the whole breakup is about her wanting to matter and have agency, but with mark she feels useless

but then she literally didn't matter without mark existing.

i liked a lot of the scenes with her in it but yeah, as a character shes kinda hollow

yeah she is a cardboard of a character and could have been replaced with literally any girl. but I think this relationship was maybe really more meant to be a representation of marks normal teeange life slowly falling apart

agreed, she wasnt as much a character as she was a representation which is why i loved her scenes but couldn't give a flyin fuck about her herself

That’s the crux of the issue & what she came to realize. Amber’s only human like us, there’s nothing she can do except be Mark’s gf.

None of us want to watch Amber’s college life because it’s boring compared to Mark fighting aliens & stuff.

She could start drama about it like in S1 but why? Mark is literally saving the world. She gotta eat that.

I’m glad she isn’t like Mary Jane. Who adds herself into the mix, exposing herself to danger because she wants to be useful lmao.

Not really she still does things on her own, and went through a lot while Mark was gone, made new friends,we just don't see them as much. Which is kinda the point of why they don't work

She didn't really change much necessarily, she was pretty understanding of him constantly being late for a while. Now that she knows why a d they talked about it she's even more understanding

I agree but Omni Man killing thousands while beating the brakes off of Mark in front of millions probably had something to do with that switch up. She got scared straight.

Imo that episode is an anomaly or some sort of writing mistake. She was fine before and even when she got angry at Mark for leaving when the cyborg attacked, it was understandable because we thought she didn't know.

It feels like whoever wrote the scene of Amber saying she knew Mark was Invincible for a while, didn't think of the implications of how it would make her be perceived as such a hate-able character. And how she's been written after that and in season 2 is just her character going back to normal after that random "anomaly."

Yeah, that whole college episode was weak. The weakest of season 1. Definite gas leak episode.

I really appreciated how hard they tried. Every time you see a superhero/normal romance, you have this moment of "but you COULD make it work if you tried." Here, they did. And here, you saw just what it would be like to be in that relationship. A pawn of anyone even slightly stronger or smarter than your boyfriend, which means the pawn of the most dangerous living things in the galaxy, and a breadcrumb to be swept away with zero agency in an instant.

That's a lot for a teenager to deal with.

Yes! She's such a good girlfriend and a person too. I like her character a lot I have no idea why others do not

She was anything BUT understanding in season 1. Like it feels like there should've been a plot twist where it turns out Amber got body snatched between seasons.

I feel bad for her but it was like, season 1 she was an annoying person, and season 2 she has no personality. I'm not super sorry she's gonna be gone now.

Also she's 18 so it's not like her One True Love is gone from her forever, she has time to move on to someone who hopefully won't have to constantly leave to fight bad guys.
