I think this is the one plotline that really fell flat for me, just because of how neverending it felt. It got so much screentime to reiterate the same point, over and over again. The introduction of Anissa, tearing apart that lie they were living, was absolutely chilling though.

yeah they completely dragged it out. this point was clear in season 1 and personally for me I never liked them together or felt any chemistry so these scenes between them were kind of torture for me. but I accept that some people liked them together. I just personally never saw the spark here

I just feel like it’s a very well done college love story. Often times you’ll see the dilemma be that the couple is trying to get the relationship to work even though they’ve been accepted into different schools, have a different line of work, etc. I found them trying to force it to work even when they didn’t feel a spark was very relatable and nail on the head for the age they’re portraying these characters to be.

I think it helped the story of them desperately trying to keep it together, they’re both strong willed and courageous people in their own right, it shows that even if the love is there sometimes it’s just not meant to be

i think it depends on personal preference. if you enjoyed them together you can see that it was necessary to dra it out and proof this point. if you never liked them in the first place, like me honestly, you are just happy that now we can finally move on

They really could've improved Amber even more and made her more interesting. She complains that she feels like a prop, but she's actually written like a prop. Have her discuss some philosophy courses she's taking and it's opening up her mind, or any interesting term papers she needs to write about, or make her more fun and interesting by having her obsessed with a new TV reality show.

Instead, every episode she walks alongside mark and repeats the same things along the lines of "I dunno Mark, it seems you are always gone". BORING.

Honestly it fell flat for me too until the Anissa scene. The writers chose to drag it out was definitely intentional. It made the Anissa scene hit that much harder because everything we watched and get dragged out was gone in an instant. It was all for the payoff, and, for me at least, it was worth it. The breakup scene was very well done.

I think this is the one plotline that really fell flat for me, just because of how neverending it felt.

Some of their scenes in this episode (prior to Anissa) were so boring and repetitive, I even had time to think about other things, like "Season 2 may not be as good as Season 1 after all".

I still stand by it. S2 has great "OMG WTF" moments, but S1 was consistently better in having little fat to trim. I can hardly name any scene I want to change in S1, but can name a lot in S2, let's just say.

Also since season 1 where it was revealed Amber knew he was a superhero and still was a complete dickhead, I'll never forgive her for that. The writers knew she was awful and tried to backpedal her character in season 2 but it just comes out of nowhere and feels unnatural. Then the weird break Amazon did with the show and it felt like it dragged on a lottt more than it should have.

They had 0 chemistry and they cant really build any when every time they're on screen mark is interrupted. Thats fine but we didn't need the same plot point every single time they're on screen, it got old fast and im glad its finally over.

It would've been even more powerful (seeing Anissa, and then seeing the breakup) if Mark and Amber had better chemistry. I probably would've thought about it for a long time.

Still a sad scene when they are teary-eyed and breaking up, but I won't lie - a part of me was like "Yay, less Amber!!". I feel her S2 version drags the show down because she's too one-note. No other interest or hobbies it seems. She just exists as a narrative prop.

The payoff was good but yeah, it was so blatantly clear that Mark should not be dating a non-supe for ages now. It's insane it took them this long to figure that out.
