I was super disappointed that they changed shape Smith's backstory about wanting to help the enslaved sequids. It made him more of a misguided good guy than a selfish asshole who took the place of rus just so he could "see the stars" I really like shapesmith when he is a silly little goober, and he doesn't really hit that note in the show yet

I’m guessing they changed it because they don’t want to come off like “anti slavery people are naive and misguided.”
