Same with JK Simmons. The power on these two actors is insane. Perfect casting.

Ironically I think it’s the relative lack of power for most of the episode that sells it - he seems…not quite soft spoken, but closer to that than in season 1, and it works. He’s trying to not care as much, to detach himself, and it’s only when he finally lets himself care and lashes out, that’s when Simmons goes full force.

Before the fight scene, when Mark and Nolan were talking, the voice acting seemed off from jk. The blunt one word answers were really flat or something wasn't right

I agree but I think it’s direction of just Nolan not knowing what to say or believing in his words. After he breaks down and grabs mark by the throat, when he speaks there you can feel he means his words so much more.
