Can't Fuking believe they killed Thula she is one of the best designs on the show brutal how Nolan killed her but nice to see that they are not adapting all the things from the book but sad to see her die

u/davidngm Nov 24 '23

I don't think she's dead, she sounded like she was still breathing.

101

u/ZhicoLoL Nov 24 '23

if choking on your own blood counts.

29

u/NoddahBot Nov 24 '23

Counted for Mark like twice now

12

u/Zaziel Nov 24 '23

Travel the void of space but can choke on blood?

19

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '23

Exactly. They said viltrunites can hold their breath for two weeks, right? Hopefully they'd be able to stop the bleeding before then. Assuming they don't just execute her for losing a fight to a kid, lol.

12

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '23

Holding your breath and actively choking on your blood are different things. You can't really do the former when the latter is happening.

I'm hoping she survives too (partly because she'd probably look badass with a cybernetic jaw), but the evidence isn't great.

7

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '23

True, they are different. But they're not so dissimilar that the ability couldn't transfer over. Both prevent your lungs from transferring oxygen to your blood, so it's a safe assumption that being able to hold your breath for an impossible amount of time would transfer to being choked.

That said, I admit I'm being pedantic here. I don't know what the writers intend to do, I just think it'd be pretty easy for them to explain her survival. And I just want her to survive, lol.

She already looks so badass, a cybernetic jaw would make her my favorite character just based on character design alone, lol.

28

u/Oldwest1234 Nov 24 '23

No way she's dead, viltrumites are a lot tougher than going down to just having their jaw through their throat. Lucan was able to live and throw out a devastating attack after having his guts spilled, so a wound like Thula's will probably incapacitate her for a bit, but definitely not kill.

6

u/Ok-Elevator-1404 Nov 24 '23

Plus they’ve got crazy medical technology

3

u/karateema Abraham Lincoln Nov 24 '23

They were only extracting Lucan and Nolan from the planet so I guess she's ded

1

u/futuredoctororwhatev Nov 27 '23

They took all the bodies tho

1

u/OneGoodRib Nov 24 '23

Well I don't think getting your jaw elbowed off would instantly kill humans most of the time either, but I don't want to look it up.

1

u/Whiteout- Nov 26 '23

I hope she comes back with a badass robot jaw or something

214

u/AndrewTheSouless Brit Nov 24 '23

Nah i dont think she is dead yet, Lucan got his intestines pierced and lived, Viltrumites are resilient

132

u/conker1264 Nov 24 '23

My man was holding them while fighting

6

u/Parkwaydrive777 Nov 24 '23 edited Nov 24 '23

The Battle Beast days long battle is going to be so amazing. I won't go further because spoilers, but it's my favorite fight in the comics

This fight we just saw has me even more excited to see it animated, it'll be awhile but bet Battle Beast is a badass

14

u/ILoveRegenHealth Nov 24 '23

Can you comic people stop Spoiling appearances damn. Or put more Spoiler boxes around the names.

6

u/DoubleDevilDiamond Nov 24 '23

It’s like they forget they have their own thread

1

u/ganzgpp1 Nov 27 '23

dude this is so real

I'm about to stop coming to the Show threads one show night because people just say stuff without thinking, it's very annoying

mods do a good job of deleting most of it but there's still a fair bit that gets through

2

u/Parkwaydrive777 Nov 24 '23

I did think I was spoiling anything as was trying to be vague, but I'll edit and block it all out. Apologies.

3

u/Unicron_Gundam Nov 24 '23

Your spoiler tags are still broken. You need to get rid of the space bars otherwise things like >! Snape Kills Dumbledore !< will show up as just that and not Snape Kills Dumbledore

1

u/Parkwaydrive777 Nov 24 '23

Had it wrong at first but it looks like it's showing hidden?

I don't have spaces, just the first edit I did one of the ! in the wrong spot. Haven't used that tag in soo long until this season 2, tad rusty with it still and cleaning up Thanksgiving rn

I didn't expect mentioning Battle Beast being in a big fight would be a spoiler, like dude wrecked Mark already figured it was clear he'd be back.. oh well, still gonna always respect not spoiling

4

u/kwispyforeskin Nov 24 '23

Please stop spoiling appearances!!!!! Now I know there’s a character named Mark who gets wrecked. Ruined.

8

u/ILoveRegenHealth Nov 24 '23

Lucan got his intestines pierced and lived

Him holding it in his arms was just nasty

3

u/bingusmagus Nov 24 '23

He was dragging around his intestines, talk about committed 😭

287

u/LoneWolf2099 Cecil Stedman Nov 24 '23

No way is she dead. Steve Harvey broke Nolan’s back while holding up his own intestines. All Thula has is the Viltrumite equivalent of a broken jaw.

165

u/MattMaiden2112 Nov 24 '23

STEVE HARVEY

Man I dieded

6

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '23

"Show me "A Future of Back Problems"!"

(Board dings).

5

u/kjm6351 Allen the Alien Nov 24 '23

That’s his name now. No exceptions

4

u/MattMaiden2112 Nov 24 '23

We need to ask Kirkman if we can make a gofundme to pay Steve Harvey to voice Steve Harvey

2

u/DrNick2012 Nov 26 '23

"so Nolan.. Before I kill you.. tell me.... What is something your wife eats when she's happy?"

"cough.... My ass lol"

Lucan goes into shock flying around stunned, accidently falling into a nearby star

1

u/Lima1998 Nov 29 '23

"My man said... ri-ri-ri-rIMJOB!"

clank

16

u/timdr18 Nov 24 '23

Yeah, as a comic reader it’s hard to believe a Viltrumite is dead until I see a decapitated body.

2

u/cannibabal Nov 24 '23

I mean Thula literally opened up Mark's abdominal aorta at the end there. That was by far the worst injury, he should have died in a second or two.

63

u/MyARhold30Shots Nov 24 '23

Yeah Thula was cool asf. Also her cool braid dagger must be made out of some high tech Viltrumite metal to be able to cut through Mark's skin like that. I mean it must be otherwise it wouldn't be worth wearing, looks like she had it back in the great purge flashback.

13

u/RealJohnGillman Nov 24 '23 edited Nov 24 '23

I believe it was just her hair, the strength behind it, Viltrumite cells being that strong.

26

u/MyARhold30Shots Nov 24 '23 edited Nov 24 '23

She specifically had a blade on the end of her hair though,

Edit: No matter how strong she whips it, if the metal isn't strong enough I feel like it should just break or not go through. Like how viltrumites are bulletproof.

25

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '23

There's some suspension of disbelief required here.

For example, in this same episode, Nolan skewers that first Viltrumite soldier with a stalagmite. However, thinking about it logically, the rock is way softer than Viltrumite flesh, and the rock should've just broken apart rather than hurt the soldier.

The damage scaling is all over the place, and that's true of any fiction with superpowered characters. Best just not to think about it too hard.

53

u/Pigeon_Lord Nov 24 '23

Not for nothing, he did open that viltrumite up like a ziplock right before impaling him, which may have compromised the structural integrity of things. That being said, rule of cool is just more fun anyways, and the sheer brutality is way cool

22

u/MyARhold30Shots Nov 24 '23

I just assumed that the inside of a viltrumite is weaker than outside. Since Nolan cut that guy’s stomach open with his hand he just shoved the rock into the opening.

So I thought maybe Thula has some advanced viltrum metal blade since their technology is supposed to be super advanced but I could be thinking too hard idk.

1

u/futuredoctororwhatev Nov 27 '23

I mean, softness of the rock vs flesh isn’t the only thing to consider. a knife made of styrofoam won’t cut us normally, but if we stabbed someone with styrofoam at 100mph it would hurt us.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 27 '23

That's only because jabbing someone with a cone of styrofoam would also hurt, even at low speed.

Think of it more like trying to stab someone really hard with a string. Or like trying to dent a car with a snowball.

-1

u/ILoveRegenHealth Nov 24 '23

Also her cool braid dagger must be made out of some high tech Viltrumite metal to be able to cut through Mark's skin like that.

But Nolan sliced open Lucan with his bare hands (more like fingers), then used a stalagmite to pierce him again. Seems it's not necessary to have a special metal. Unless the creators forgot about consistency.

4

u/t_moneyzz Robot Nov 24 '23

Skin seems to be the toughest part

-1

u/N-ShadowFrog Nov 24 '23

Nolan managed to pierce another Viltrumite with a random stalactite so there's probably a lot of metals that would work. But I agree with the theory that it's just her hair.

17

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '23

No he cut him open first

92

u/GaulzeGaul Nov 24 '23

Are we sure she's dead? The other one we thought was wasn't.

13

u/quantummufasa Nov 24 '23

Or even the ginger one

2

u/torvaman Nov 24 '23

yeah i thought that too, he obviously was FUCKED up, but we didn't see a finisher.

34

u/FKDotFitzgerald Allen the Alien Nov 24 '23

Viltrumites can usually heal from stuff like that.

4

u/ProBonoDevilAdvocate Nov 24 '23

Tis but a scratch!!!

6

u/zombiegamer723 Nov 24 '23

I mean hell, Mark got his fucking chest caved in by Battle Beast last season and bounced back.

I think Miss Stabby Hair will be fine too.

29

u/Locem Nov 24 '23

Pretty much nobody is dead in Invincible unless the heart or brain is squeeshed.

17

u/RealJohnGillman Nov 24 '23

I don’t think she’s dead, just jawless.

7

u/SIacktivist Nov 24 '23

If they're doing this anything like the comics, it is much harder than that to kill a Viltrumite. Not that I read the comics... but maybe we'll see an arc on the show of the Viltrumites realizing exactly how hard it is for them to die? Since I doubt they've been hurt this badly in a long time.

7

u/WyattLayne11 Nov 24 '23

Kregg has a robot eye. Thula is definitely coming back with a robot jaw.

5

u/Vadersaber4 Nov 24 '23

She’s definitely not dead, we’ve seen weaker viltrumites survive nearly identical but worse versions of her injuries

4

u/Chickachic-aaaaahhh Nov 24 '23

Vultrimites need their heads or heart seriously damaged to die. They have some form of regeneration and if theyre really hurt it just takes a while under proper care.

4

u/armyofbeees Nov 24 '23

She’s definitely not dead

2

u/ILoveRegenHealth Nov 24 '23

I bet she was a dish 800 years ago too

2

u/hanky2 Nov 25 '23

I think you’re in the wrong thread here you go https://www.reddit.com/r/Invincible/s/DBAqg27RgA

I already had this convo it’s from the ep and I don’t think it’s that big of a spoiler

1

u/finnjakefionnacake Nov 24 '23

this is most definitely a comic spoiler man, come on.

1

u/ThoughtHealthy9919 Nov 24 '23

It’s not even a big apolier

1

u/NerdLawyer55 Nov 24 '23

Now she can throw back a triple stack burger no problem

1

u/kjm6351 Allen the Alien Nov 24 '23

As crazy as it sounds, I don’t think any of those guys are dead

1

u/Imightwantkarma Nov 25 '23

No way she’s dead
