me every 5 minutes:

YOU GOTTA BE

FUCKING KIDDING ME

Also i cant wait for more Viltrumite v Viltrumite battles, when Gods go to war the bloodshed is fucking insane! The way Nolan finished Thula was so sick(ening) i loved it. And seeing how OP Mark actually is when he went all out was really suprising actually. I was expecting him to be stronger thsn he had been showing us up until now but to actually be able to go toe to toe with a Viltrumite war veteran like that is wild. our boi might acually be...[INVINCIBLE]

Also Also did anyone else catch how they made Nolan's sad montage and Debbies sad montage exactly the same including the contemplating suicide bit? cheffs kisserino's my duders

Yeah I thought Nolan was being an asshole again when he said 'come on Mark, you're holding back!' and Mark was just too weak to compete and Nolan should know by then.

Turns out Nolan was serious lol, and it seemed like even Mark was surprised by how strong he really is.

So far the pacing of the (first half) of the season is crazy, we already have a omni-man and mark reunion, new viltrumites on screen during the fight scene with Allen, plus a mark+omni man team-up vs said viltrumites. What looks like a viltrumite leader or commander too at the end, Krieg. Oh and Mark has a superpowered baby brother too!

Don’t want to sound like an ass, but it's “Kregg” not “Krieg”

u/Midget_Avatar Nov 24 '23

I thought my ears fooled me when the subtitles said Kregg, he did pronounce it like Krieg.

37

u/Jackbwoi Nov 24 '23

I think naming the character “Krieg” would be a bit too on the nose for a character from a species bent on domination lmao

15

u/Iorith Nov 24 '23

All I can think of is Warhammer 40k.

10

u/OtakuAttacku Nov 24 '23

I can appreciate 40k skipping subtlety, but not everyone gets that pass.

11

u/King_Khoma Battle Beast Nov 24 '23

i mean, eventually one viltrumite has to accidently have the ol charlie chaplin stache right

u/HolyKnightHun Nov 24 '23

General Craig

u/Brilliant_Dark_3979 Nov 24 '23

Viltrumites pronounce their names a bit differently. In comics Omni man addresses this saying his name was always Nolan but pronounced more like Now Lahn or something to that effect

2

u/desPan8 Nov 24 '23

It was always Kregg like Greg, in my mind. This is better, and it kinda goes along with Nolan's explanation in the comic of his name being pronounced somewhat differently in Viltrum?

1

u/canuck1701 Nov 25 '23

Not Kregg like Craig?

12

u/Butt_Stuph Nov 24 '23

I used to pronounce it as Greg, and I thought it was funny that this high ranking member of a conquering species is named Greg.

15

u/Machizzy Nov 24 '23

Tbh I feel the same with Nolan lol. Every other viltrumite has baller names like Vidor, Lucan, Thula etc.

Then we have the Great Nolan and Mark the Invincible 💀

3

u/GoldenSpermShower Nov 24 '23

I'm surprised Nolan didn't bother to change his name on Earth

So like the balloon king?

Don Krieg is a viltrumite confirmed

So far the pacing of the (first half) of the season is crazy,

Yeah it's a weird side effect of the shuffling Season 1 did relative to the comic. The fight with Battle Beast and the Reanimen issues took place after Nolan left in the comic, whereas in the show they take place before hand.

Nolan kills the Guardians and fights Mark really quickly in the comic and most of episode 7 is show original to further extend the length of that arc, so rather than have a season 1 with crazy fast pacing, it appears that they shifted events to happen earlier in the show to slow down Season 1's pace but that in turn increased the pace of Season 2 because events that would have been adapted after the Season 1 finale have already been adapted and now there's nothing to adapt.

IMO, it's definitely a change for the better, it made the Season 1 finale much more impactful relative to the issues it adapted.

That’s so interesting, I’m a episode-only Andy (thus far) so this is the first time I’m hearing about this but it just goes to show how much thought went into the adaptation of the comics from day 1 imo. We’re really seeing Bezos money at work here so to speak lol, Netflix could never m. I remember that The Expanse (my all time favorite series/book adaptation) also had a MAJOR improvement when it got picked up by Amazon. Not just in production quality but things like pacing, choosing what to adapt on screen and what to leave behind etc.

Makes me wish I won one of those crazy Spanish power balls so I could drop half a billion euros on invincible or another show adaptation of a favorite IP of mine and see the magic that happens when creators have all the money and time they need

Imagine paying top notch staff and cast for like 10 years because the movie/show has to be remade a dozen times until it's supposedly worthy of being this 'legitimaly great' product born out of 'infinite time and resources', and then still making a movie that's not widely appreciated or raising the bar of cinema in any way lol.

I'd love to see it happen a few times to see if the result would actually be good or just like any other movie that's forgotten soon enough.

I mean, movies like Avatar raise the bar AND break records, but I have never met a single person that was a major Avatar fan and collected all the stuff and talked about it the way, for example, a Star Wars fan would.

Nolan was just trying to teach mark about life. Father's can't do everything for their sons. It's simple. You either kill them or they kill you. Mark would have killed her if he didn't hesitate. It's Mark's refusal of the call now the situation is much worse.

3

u/Coping5644 Nov 27 '23

well he didnt agree to killing them, he was just thrown into the situation. nolan hasn't clued him in on how tough viltrumites are. Also, if Nolan hadn't called him, Mark would have been safe.

u/forever87 Samantha Eve Wilkins Nov 24 '23 edited Nov 24 '23

Turns out Nolan

could gauge how strong his son is because they had that season 1 finale fight and knows that he'd have the upperhand* since Mark wasn't/isn't ready to kill (his Father) to survive. i know grappler baki: isn't for everybody, but baki: Father vs son is very much parallel'ing each other in certain themes

*Omni is an experienced warrior, but with him learning "new" unorthodox aspects of life at his age, invi might be able to eclipse him because of the family factor

2

u/Imightwantkarma Nov 25 '23

No evidence his brother has super powers

4

u/SoundofGlaciers Nov 25 '23

He's a viltrumite, I bet he'll have powers just like Mark or any mixed viltrumite

1

u/hurricane1197 Nov 24 '23

Hope they slow it down

1

u/Pufflekun Dec 04 '23

I knew he was both serious and correct once he was telling Mark he had to try to kill her, and Mark was like, "no, I don't kill people!"

Well, you better fucking start, kid!

1

u/Akshin_Blacksin Jan 05 '24

Same weakness Superman has his mind is his only barrier

8

u/MaxTennyson88 Nov 24 '23

I just wanna see Mark training, Cecil could probably built the equivalent of The Flash's treadmill for him!

8

u/macedonianmoper Nov 24 '23

Also imagine how old that woman is, she had full grey hair, viltrumites age very slowly and don't seem to physically get weaker so imagine how much experience she had. No idea if women viltrumites are weaker than men though.

3

u/Generic_user42 Nov 24 '23

I think it might’ve been hubris

9

u/far219 Nov 24 '23

Also Also did anyone else catch how they made Nolan's sad montage and Debbies sad montage exactly the same including the contemplating suicide bit?

Yeah I loved that. Whats interesting is that Nolan was distracted by the Thraxan ship, and seemingly saved them instinctively, while Debbie simply snapped out of it herself. Nolan may very well have killed himself. Shows just how fucked up he was, as well as showing Debbie's mental fortitude. Now we know for sure where Mark gets it from.

5

u/ValhallaGo Nov 24 '23

the way Nolan finished Thula

Basically curb stomped her on his own arm… wild.

4

u/legit-posts_1 Machine Head Nov 24 '23

Also love how they both parrellel the Karma Police montage from S2E1

3

u/CannolisRUs Nov 24 '23

I already gotta rewatch it because I totally glossed over Debbie contemplating suicide. What does she do?

8

u/ManaosVoladora Nov 24 '23

After rewatching is when she's standing on top of the highway, looking down at the cars

1

u/thatAnthrax Nov 25 '23

sorry i dont recall debbie contemplating suicide? when?

2

u/RedEgg16 Nov 26 '23

She was standing on a highway bridge looking down at the cars
