“Just thug that shit out”

It’s not just the fact that it happened, she explicitly said it’ll take a few times and she’ll be back soon. That genuinely terrifying

That aside, I’ve always thought this to be an interesting talking point about invasive species. I know it’s not exactly a tasteful storytelling thing, but I’m surprised Nolan and the others aren’t more like this.

Don’t think it would work if a male viltrumite tried this as an invasion tactic because women can always choose to terminate a pregnancy(even if it costs them their health or life).

36

u/Brawlerz16 Nov 22 '23

Holy fuck I haven’t even thought about that.

I know it’s a morbid subject, but that reason fits perfectly in line to why it has to be this way specifically. If that’s what Kirkman intended that’s really genius

Yeah the whole "interbreeding with the earthlings will make them learn to love and be nonviolent" thing was breathtakingly shortsighted by Kirkman. That entire arc is basically Magical Tea Party - pure lazy wish-fulfillment fantasy method of tying up all the loose ends.

"Walk it off"

How the hell do you man up against rape?, Viltrumite logic I guess

u/CaptainKlamydia Nov 21 '23

It's unfortunately not just Viltrumite logic, it's a horrible attitude that's in our world

u/Monkey_King291 Duct Tape Man Nov 21 '23

Sadly you're right

u/Structure_Southern Nov 22 '23

I've been in this situation before and it's just weird to talk about. I hardly ever talk about it to other men because most of the time it gets laughed off.

I do think things are improving as conversations like this are happening more often, but it's been slow.

u/CaptainKlamydia Nov 22 '23

Yeah I was speaking from personal experience as well, so you're not alone.

Can you explain...no names

I was assaulted, not raped, but aggressively groped, kissed, felt up, and generally forced upon by a very drunk older woman at a concert. I spent the rest of the night panicking and avoiding her as much as possible. My girlfriend (we were in an open relationship) proceeded to ask me why I was so uncomfortable and why I wasn’t trying to “get some” when I told her I wanted to leave because that woman had fucking assaulted me. I should have dumped her then and there.

u/Dumoney Donald Ferguson Nov 22 '23

Thats probably why Kirkman specifically included this scene, because this is indeed the reality

4

u/CaptainKlamydia Nov 22 '23

And I'm really glad he did, when I first read it, I was going through my own SA. Weird as it sounds, Invincible helped me deal with a lot of it.

Men can’t be raped /s

19

u/jongauti132 Nov 22 '23

In Britain this wouldn't be rape lool

I don't understand why you're being downvoted. It's fucked in Britain, legally speaking it's only rape if a penis is forced into an unwilling owner of a vagina (edit - or mouth or anus, so men can rape other men too). There's legally no way for men to be raped.

32

u/Ok-Professional-2059 Invincible Nov 22 '23

That's fucked

9

u/DenseMahatma Nov 22 '23

No there is, man can be raped by another man. Its not specifically vagina that needs to be penetrated, anything can be penetrated.

Also want to add while the woman wont be charged with rape if she forced a man into her vagina for example, but she would still be charged with sexual assault n so forth. Not a justification but its not that they get off scot free

u/DrippyWaffler ENTER CUSTOM TEXT HERE Nov 22 '23

Ah true, I didn't realise that it could be mouth or anus too.

The offence is created by section 1 of the Sexual Offences Act 2003:

(1) A person (A) commits an offence if—

(a) he intentionally penetrates the vagina, anus or mouth of another person (B) with his penis,

(b) B does not consent to the penetration, and

(c) A does not reasonably believe that B consents.

Or using an object would count for men

1

u/bigjoeandphantom3O9 Nov 22 '23

It isn't fucked at all, it's just a matter of semantics. The penalties are the same, and men can be raped.

0

u/DrippyWaffler ENTER CUSTOM TEXT HERE Nov 22 '23

Not by women.

2

u/Inevitable_Seaweed_5 Nov 22 '23

…you should read up on, idk, any rape case where a 20something female teacher rapes a high school student. They are routinely told some variation of either “man up” or “lmao, lucky, bet that was fun”. It’s disgusting and heartbreaking, and a VERY common thread in our society. Male victims of female on male rape are often not taken seriously, even by mental health professionals.

u/Background_Grab7852 Nov 22 '23

Bottle it up until you release those emotions periodically as uncontrollable rage, rinse/repeat. That's what real men do.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 22 '23

Viltrumite logic? That's basic human logic on this

2

u/SofaChillReview Nov 22 '23

Another word I can’t see being used in the show

2

u/aSpookyScarySkeleton Nov 22 '23

I feel like watering this moment down would kinda be more distasteful. It’s supposed to be an awful thing to say.
