That's a Transformers sequel, not a Bumblebee sequel. Stop being weird.

You know what I mean. That's like saying Bumblebee is a direct sequel to the movie before it. The series should have continued under Travis Knight, and instead it's now back in Bay's hands.

Are you thinking that Rise of the Beasts is a sequel to The Last Knight? It's obvious that ROTB is a sequel to Bumblebee since takes place in 1994, versus Bumblebee's 1987. The original pitch for ROTB was to be Bumblebee 2. While the original plan (from 2016) for the seventh TF movie was to be a sequel to the fifth TF movie (2017's Last Knight), they scrapped that in 2019 because Last Knight made Viacom and their investors lose 100 million dollars.

The series should have continued under Travis Knight, and instead it's now back in Bay's hands.

Bay did not direct Rise of the Beasts. He is credited as an associate producer of both it and Bumblebee. All the live-action movies have always been in his hands since he was hired by Spielberg, including Bumblebee.

Travis is a decent director, but most in the business won't like him since he's anti labor unions. He had ILM animate the Optimus scenes using a non-unionized soundalike's recordings, then had Peter Cullen come in for only one session to match the soundalike's cadence because the animations were already done. He seems to be in better spirits working on Rise of the Beasts.

While critical reviews for Steven Cable Jr's movie were less than Knight's (52% to 91%), his ROTB was better received by audiences (91% to 74%) and still had better reception than most of Bay's movies. Like Knight and unlike Bay, Cable is an actual fan of the franchise who drew grew up with Beast Wars and the 1986 animated movie, using them for inspiration while making his movie.
