I feel so bad for Debbie! Also so strange how Olga and Debbie are so close and seemingly Aquarius’s wife, yet never knew Green Ghost’s husband. Maybe he’ll take up the mantle? And on the discussion of spouses, did anyone get the vibe in season 1 that War Woman and her business associate were closer than just coworkers?

This is actually covered by the same explanation for why she died to omniman instead of phasing out and running away. She was the “new” green ghost so it’s apparently some kind of mantle and she just got super unlucky with having basically no experience before omniman turned.

u/silverhammer96 Nov 17 '23

Right ya maybe since we only got a glimpse of the previous Green Ghost maybe it’ll be passed on soon?

u/nepo5000 Allen the Alien Nov 17 '23

I might be misremembering but I’m pretty sure we can see Cecil and his men finding the gem when they’re going through the carnage

31

u/Techn028 Nov 17 '23

IIRC it was broken but now I'm curious

13

u/AustralianSenior Nov 17 '23

yeah we see it shattered during darkblood's first scene

13

u/Bamma4 Nov 17 '23

Just checked yeah that gem is shattered

6

u/silverhammer96 Nov 17 '23

Hmmm ya I feel like I remember that, but I’m not sure either

u/Napalmeon Nov 17 '23

When Cecil and his guys found the bodies of the Guardians, somebody said in the background that they used to look up to the Green Ghost when they were a kid. So, the title has definitely been around for a couple decades.

u/vtinesalone Nov 17 '23

She died to Omniman bc he outplayed her. By throwing her the corpse of her teammate he knew she would catch it and be unable to phase for an instant where he could strike

I get he's grieving but he was a dick to tell Debbie not to come back to the group and cast her out (How dare cast someone out in need of mental help, nice move asshole). Whatever happened to not judging others on their relatives or spouses? Don't think people would know better? He clearly sees how devastated Debbie is.

His fault for even inviting her for drinks in the first place.

What’s even worse is HE’s the one who broke the rule, and then goes as far as to say DEBBIE cannot come back, fuck that guy, he should be booted from group

u/Techn028 Nov 17 '23 edited Nov 17 '23

Yeah, he's the one trying to subtly dig for info and also probably trying to get with Debbie by inviting her out.... idk why but he seemed kind of disingenuous

u/Alt4816 Nov 17 '23

He also claimed that a group of people go to the bar after but then it was just the two of them.

Yeah this makes me dislike that guy a lot more. I can understand his motivations, but that doesn't mean I tolerate his actions. I don't think he is irredeemable, but I definitely am not a fan.

u/[deleted] Nov 18 '23

Reminded of the Camera man from Megamind

1

u/Rodiwe008 Nov 18 '23

Yeah, that was kinda sus to me. I mean, where are the other people my guy?

2

u/MichaeltheSpikester The Astounding Wolf-Man Nov 17 '23

Agreed.

1

u/Zankman Nov 23 '23

He should come back and apologize.

11

u/Deadpwner99 Nov 17 '23

While very much an absolute massive piece of shit
His reasoning was that it wouldn't be a safe space for himself knowing the wife of the man who killed his wife was actively coming there and sharing this safe space with him
I mean i can kinda get that however that doesn't mean he can do what he did and especially not say what he said in way that he said it.

2

u/MichaeltheSpikester The Astounding Wolf-Man Nov 17 '23

I mean its not like Omni-Man is suddenly gonna show up and kill them up out of nowhere wherever Debbie goes.

8

u/Stovoy Nov 17 '23

They don’t mean a literal safe space. Emotionally.

6

u/MichaeltheSpikester The Astounding Wolf-Man Nov 17 '23

But at the same time he's the one who broke the rules. Guy should be booted out of the group.

2

u/Mysterious-Part-8443 Nov 17 '23

Unfortunately, no one will want Debbie there if they find out who her husband is.

2

u/MichaeltheSpikester The Astounding Wolf-Man Nov 17 '23

Whatever happened to not judging others on other relatives?

What they think Omni-Man is gonna show up everywhere she goes? Lol.

3

u/Mysterious-Part-8443 Nov 17 '23

I'm not judging her but this is going to be the sentiment of characters that don't know the full story.

5

u/Deadpwner99 Nov 17 '23

not like that.
a safe space to be open and vulnerable and to allow healing which is alot harder with someone around who was together romantically for so long with the individual that literally is the source of your grief

6

u/MichaeltheSpikester The Astounding Wolf-Man Nov 17 '23

Ok gotcha. See what you're saying now.

Even then, as someone said, he's the one who broke the rules in the first place. So what right does he have to say she shouldn't come back? Should be booted out of the group.

5

u/Deadpwner99 Nov 17 '23

he has no right...
I literally stated that in my original comment
he doesn't really have much of a leg to stand on
For the organisation his concern and discomfort would be valid and absolutely something they would have to take into consideration however that doesn't mean they would automatically side in favour of him
Points against him would be that of course he broke the rules and his incredibly shitty response even if it was driven by irrational feelings and grief

In my opinion if he genuinely wanted the best shot of having her kicked out of the group he should have kept the final comment to himself and instead talked privately to the organisers and tell them about this and point out that he is a longer time member, whose partner is victim to the other members partner who is also actually not even dead. At that point its up to the organisers to decide but that drastically boosts his chances of getting what he wants

Although what he more likely wanted was just to hurt her like her husband hurt him

He's mad that Debbie didn't know, even if she did know, what would SHE do? Nolan can clearly take over the planet. There is nothing not a single human could do against Nolan, including Debbie. However Debbie stopped Nolan in her own way. By being a wise human that taught Nolan about humanity and emotional connection

21

u/AndrewTheSouless Brit Nov 17 '23

They actually toned down how gay War Woman was, i guess so people wouldn’t get distracted with “Bury your gays” accusations

13

u/finnjakefionnacake Nov 17 '23

this show needs a gay superhero. i nominate the return of rick. good guy turned badass cyborg avenger? i'd be here for it.

25

u/Techn028 Nov 17 '23

He mentions in the episode that it was a sore point in their relationship that no one knew about him

15

u/wildcatofthehills Invincible Whip / Nae Nae Nov 17 '23

They were lesbians, good for them. In the comic is way more direct.

15

u/princevince1113 Battle Beast Nov 17 '23

war woman’s partner was absolutely her wife/gf, they weren’t exactly subtle about it, and they mention in this episode that green ghost kept her husband secret for his protection

8

u/finnjakefionnacake Nov 17 '23

well they were kinda subtle about it, because they never actually mentioned it or showed it lol.

6

u/Bird_Bros Nov 17 '23

Green Ghost was a newer member of the Guardians of the Globe, replacing the Green Ghost who was in the Atom Eve special

5

u/shadowst17 Nov 17 '23

I imagine some superheroes like to keep their personal and hero life separate like some people do with work.

3

u/BradleySigma Nov 19 '23

There's also this line from the Atom Eve special:

Immortal: "You've got a lot to learn about men."
War Woman: "No interest!"

2

u/Immrlonely98 Nov 17 '23

In the comic she was introduced as having a girlfriend
