Wasn’t the whole point with Angstrom Levy that any time Mark snapped and became evil in a world it was because something happened to Eve? So what gives here.

She was the only person who he refused to kill, so that's still a pretty big flag. He even "practiced" the paralysis move (on civilians) to ensure that he wouldn't kill her. What could be more romantic than that?
