Because a driver's license is still useful for a lot of jobs.

Yeah same. Unless you're applying for a job where driving is part of the job, it's entirely irrelevant and in fact suspicious of an employer to ask about that distinction. It never affected me and usually when they ask about transportation you can just say you have it adequately without specifying a particular form.

Riding your bike, walking, or taking the bus/train everywhere is a perfectly valid way to live your life and anyone who tells you otherwise is insecure. That being said, I would like to get my license someday for emergencies, but I hope I never have to own a car.
