You mean after the controlled burn that destroyed all of the non celebrity homes

Controlled burn? For fucks sake are you one of those nutters? What celebrity homes? In lahaina? No celebrity builds their home in lahaina in the first place. It's not prime real estate its mostly workforce housing and people who inherited old family homes that were built, in some cases, before Hawaii was even a state. Kapalua maybe, which is still in the "lahaina mailing address" but miles and miles away...and not dry as a tinder box. Also Launiopoko, which is still considerably far from the main hub and still yet, has caught on fire back in 2018. Our county saw the close call in 2018 (in which my own childhood home almost fully caught fire...the yard was charred)...and just said "yeah this is fine". Did nothing to update infrastructure, improve dry conditions, get rid of invasive grass, reroute water, maintain power lines....FUCKING NOTHING. this was waiting to happen. You don't need wild conspiracy to explain it. It's plain old negligence. AT BEST, if I want to be charitable, I can say they had their hands full with the pandemic, but they knew even before then, things needed to get done to prepare for the fire warning/hazard lahaina was labeled with, that they already knew about.

I like you. Charity is always good to give, especially to your duly elected government - especially studied charity - because I, after reading what you said, have no doubt you understand the civics involved in keeping a nation together. There are many interests who would profit from suspicion or conspiracy theories - but there is also a lot more to the world than there seems to be. It should be a law, do not attribute intent and conspiracy unto those whom you do not study in charity.
