I hate this trade too, but what we're not gonna do is tell lies to make ourselves hate it more.
Grimes is on a 25th pick rookie deal, Fournier is a team option next year, and the other 2 are cheap expiring contracts.

Sorry I meant pretty much only Fournier in this sense. Knicks replace his 18M in salary with a player of actual value, and then we get Grimes. But my issue is that we included two players of value here and only got 2 picks back as additional comp.
Swap the two second round picks with the rights to our first and I wouldn’t complain about it at all. Just makes no sense. I’d rather we trade Bogey or Burks straight up for Fournier and our pick than trade both for Grimes and two seconds

You don’t trade your 2nd best player for that. Fournier being on a team option makes me feel so much better. If we sign all the best role players I will be happy.
Fournier isn’t Bogi by any means but he’s almost a decade younger. Can shoot, plays feisty. But know where another player at the 3/4.
Hopefully this means we sign a pg on the min. to sit behind Sasser. Because we probably won’t acquire another guard that can play if we keep Evan next year.
Unless he got injured and regressed, Evan could end up being a pretty decent shooter for us.
Not sure if he can sign an extension but if he can play the three he could play big minutes for us and give us some really good threes if he’s healthy.

We just traded our two best vets for a dude that shoots under 40% from the field this season and a bunch of garbage without getting our 1st back
This is easily one of the dumbest and worst trades I've seen in a long ass time
Edit: omg the Jazz trade makes this even worse. Jazz are sending out Kelly Olynyk and guard Ochai Agbaji to the Toronto Raptors for Kira Lewis, Otto Porter and a 2024 first-round pick. Fucking punt weaver to space

I'm going to play devil's advocate -- reluctantly cause y'all are gonna chew me up in place of Weaver.
Is it possible we were drinking the Kool-Aid on Bojan? Front office trying to hype him to the rest of the league through the media but they saw him as the lead scorer on a young tank team of 17 wins and nobody wanted to trade what we were asking for? He was big for us as our lead scorer but our treasure wasn't of value to them? His defense was as much a hole sometimes as Saddiq, he's aging fast, and we got him in a trade where the only other name I've heard since is Kelly Olynyk. No comment on Burks, but I see fans losing it over Bogie added.
I don't love the trade but it's not like our season is going to get measurably better than it has in January-February so far. Never mind 4 of those came minus Cade, more without than with, and the last was minus Bogie too. We're screwed either way. I'm doing what I did last season and just watching our draft picks development.
My biggest fear is this gives Monty Williams an even looooonger leash to try and make all the new pieces work while we fail historically into next year. Gores has more time to live in denial. I don't want the guy that made Ivey the 11th man off the bench and Killian a starter the WHOLE losing streak to have time to sort this out. What does this mean for Ausar under Monty? For Sasser? Our future players. The day isn't done but even worse, Monty isn't either. 😭 He's just getting started ... again

One of the quickest off the dribble and can guard well as long as he’s not on the SFs.
Needs to get his confidence up but his shot is smooth and if he can get some more of a playmaking role on the team, I truly believe he can be a good combo guard in the league.

So as a Knicks fan, I think you are really massively overrating Grimes.
He was starting at the beginning of the year getting a ton of minutes, and lost his spot to Donte Divencenzo because he is so inactive and does not play aggressively at all. Then we made him one of the focal points of our bench since we lost Quickley. He’s had some nice games and can shoot, but he’s really just a mid role player so far.
He has potential, but he has to play more aggressively on offense. I was high on him, but he has not developed much so far.

The fact that this is the return we end up getting for Bojan is insane. I know people are going to say “how do you know we could have got something better?” And to that I say… bruh.
This is one of the best available rentals for the last couple years, and we get absolute scraps. No question in my mind someone was prepared to offer a first at last years deadline, or a first at the draft. As with Grant, we wait too long for no reason and the value isn’t there anymore

The only way this trade makes since if it gets turned into another trade for a starting nba caliber player like Tobias Harris but if this is it then it was a bad trade. Obviously I’d like the 1st back but I’ll wait and see what happens before I make a judgment. I quite like the Fontecchio trade. Not sure about these subsequent moves.
Pistons get improved defenders and younger players. Glad we're finally offloading some veteran shooters.
But sending out Morris, Burks, and Bogie? For these returns? Someone still needs to make shots. Maybe Brown and Grimes are better than I think, but it seems like we gave away the best three players in these two trades.

I think this trade is fine. Should have moved Bojan last year for firsts. Breaking it down to functionally Bojan for Grimes+Fournier seems reasonable and Burks for cap filler and 2 Seconds seems about right.

Yeah I am underwhelmed at this deal (because we didn't get our 1st back), but liked the first two moves. It's clear our supporting cast was a losing formula so we sold everything but the core 4 Sasser and Stew like everyone wanted. Got some decent two way players (Simone and Grimes) some picks and prospects. Honestly better than I hoped.

I liked the other trades we made, even though I wanted Leonard Miller on the team rather than Troy brown Jr, but holy shit. C- return. We will see, maybe grimes becomes a serviceable player but wow, holy ass should've moved off of bojan long ago

Was hoping we would trade Bojan and Burks but not sure what this accomplishes. Our trades up until this point were small W's but this is just seems like we are giving guys away. At this point I view trades as how it will impact Monty's stupidity. Until we trade Kilian we arent free from that but Ausar and Ivey minutes are going up.

With Bojan and Burks we still have the worst record of all time. These guys will be too old to right the ship once we (hopefully) get it together. Fontecchio and Grimes are younger and will be fine substitutions for Bojan and Burks. Fournier is essentially very similar to both of those guys. These moves dont necessarily make us better but they def dont make us worse

Knicks fan here. Grimes is a really, really quality defender. Bummed to lose him. He’s struggled a lot with confidence in his shot and with confidence driving to the lane this season—but hopefully he’ll get time with you guys having the ball in his hands and getting comfortable playing a bigger role.
Think it was tough for us with DDV playing well to give him that so Grimes would sometimes only have like 13 mins a game. But he can be a quality 3 and D starter in this league w/ a little more development.
Question: I know about Burks because he used to play for us, but what’s Bojan like as a player? Know nothing about him besides he’s a good shooter.
