The inventor of Vaseline, Robert Chesebrough, was such a firm believer in its medicinal properties that he claimed to have eaten a spoonful of it a day. During a bout of pleurisy in his 50s, he ordered his nurse to cover him from head to toe in the substance, and soon recovered. He lived to be 96. Image

My skin specialist swears by it. Reckons it's better than most expensive skin balms Sol's.

From my personal experience it really is. It's simply so neutral. Every other product tends to have a dozen ingredients, any of which can agitate sensitive skin. But vaseline just sits there doing nothing except acting like a shield against outside agitators and damage.

That’s what we were told for our first kid who had dry skin. Tried all the fancy stuff the doc recommended, then a skin doc asked if we just tried Vaseline. Fixed.
