His plan is to betray Baldwin’s legacy by playing him devoid of any political consciousness. He’s just going to focus on his individual gay identity and how black people in particular ostracised him and by what he said it sounded like he’ll treat him as a fetish character to demonstrate how black people ‘bad’ and to place him in the pink economy aka rainbow capitalism devoid of any meaning and context.

I wish he put some thought into it and explored Baldwin’s work and person with its political commitments and intersection of identities and struggles. An example is how Porter supports the Zionist entity and is transferring that to the portrayal of Baldwin. Baldwin was fiercely anti colonial and that included opposition to Zionism.
