Sharks: the everyman’s dilemma.

100

u/Managed-Democracy 20d ago

Let's not forget the threat of TREMENDOUSLY POWERFUL BATTERIES or trump casually suggesting he could, In a crisis, jump 10 yards over a shark. Like he's Jason Statham in Meg3: Maga.

49

u/The_Royale_We 20d ago

Yes those batteries that apparently can electrify the ENTIRE OCEAN.

33

u/Sir_Yacob Georgia 20d ago

But nobody has been asking or have thought to ever ask about it.

Because it’s an intensely fucking stupid thing to say with no logic or point Donald.

Why don’t people just say that to his face?

19

u/calm_chowder Iowa 20d ago

It's literally something a 5 year old would ask on the way home from elementary school. "Daaaaaddyyy, if I was in the ocean, and I had a battery in my boat, and a shark came up to my boat, and I threw the battery in the water would the shark get electrocuted???"

4

u/Gatsbyshydroplane 20d ago

Well, we're only a few minutes away from everyone in the cult calling him daddy anyway. So. Yeah.

2

u/Suspicious_Bicycle 20d ago

Sounds like a great topic for r/explainlikeimfive/

1

u/calm_chowder Iowa 19d ago

Happy cake day!

Actually it does sound like a good question, you should ask (and get some cake day karma). Salt water is a pretty good conductor, much better than fresh water.

12

u/TheGrayJamie 20d ago

The Emperor's New Clothes. It is a cautionary tale, after all.

2

u/phaedrus71 19d ago

That and Charlottes Web. Am I right?

2

u/phaedrus71 19d ago

But my uncle was a prof at MIT, so that proves I’m a stable genius.

2

u/The_Royale_We 20d ago

It sounds like the boat guy in the story kind of said that or at least said the beginning part.

8

u/Sir_Yacob Georgia 20d ago

I mean,

I’m for people getting the boot out of their mouth and telling him to his face that he is a fucking idiot and nobody cares about his idiot fucking questions.

6

u/worstatit 20d ago

"No one's ever asked me THAT before"

6

u/Gnarly-Gnu 20d ago

Because of his connection to MIT, very smart.

3

u/worstatit 20d ago

Yes, he knows both sharks and electricity...

6

u/Krash412 20d ago

I hear he also has amazing Bo Staff skills and his favorite animal is a Liger.

I made a song using these words about boats electricity and MIt exactly

7

u/Managed-Democracy 20d ago

Trump has an issue with scale. Like when he talks about Hillary bleaching her emails. Nevermind his poor understanding of the situation. He thinks, and says she poured literal acid on her computer that destroyed 'everything for miles' like it's some kind of organic super weapon that Hillary Clinton alone has the power to survive.

4

u/Fossile 19d ago

Magalodon

2

u/Lola-Ugfuglio-Skumpy 20d ago

The least believable part of that is the idea that Trump hasn’t jumped the shark.

10

u/Chilledlemming 20d ago

Well if you are in South Florida right now they could be in the house and around your EV. Quite prophetic in a climate collapse scenario.

25

u/n8b77 America 20d ago

But climate collapse scenarios can't happen in Florida, desantis outlawed them.

10

u/The-Dead-Internet 20d ago

Have we tried launching a nuke at them?!?

10

u/Jon_the_Hitman_Stark 20d ago

Gutsy question. You’re a shark.

3

u/SchwillyThePimp 20d ago

Only if he had boneitis

3

u/Conch-Republic 20d ago

Guess I better get some shark insurance.

3

u/Solracziad Florida 20d ago

Are you trying to tell me the Skarknadeo movies were all lies!?

63

u/BlokeInTheMountains 20d ago

It's a conservative trope that all these elites and egg head scientists don't have any common sense.

But conservatives do.

So it's common sense that batteries are too heavy to work in a boat.

That is his starting point. That electric boats can't work because he, with his genius because of his connection to MIT, can use his superior common sense to see that they won't work.

That is the starting point of nearly all his dumb rants. Then his short attention span means he just keeps going on dumb tangents. He can't even finish half his sentences before he brainfarts out another one.

Unfortunately half of the country is dumb enough and eager enough to believe in their superior "common sense" that they go along with him.

60

u/jtalbain 20d ago

Here's what he's actually on about: during his campaign, it came up that the US Navy's new state-of-the-art aircraft carriers use an electromagnetic catapult system to launch aircraft, as opposed to their old steam-powered catapults. Trump did not understand this upgrade and promised to order the Navy to revert to steam catapults. This is the dimmly-recalled issue that caused him to declare magnets in water don't work. He's convinced that electricity and water don't mix, and that the seawater over the deck will ultimately "short out" an electromagnetic catapult system. This idea has further devolved in his addled mind to a scenario where it's either an electrically-arcing sinking ship or a shark.

37

u/007meow 20d ago

You HAVE to post his quote along with this story.

I said, “You don’t use steam anymore for catapult?” “No sir.” I said, “Ah, how is it working?” “Sir, not good. Not good. Doesn’t have the power. You know the steam is just brutal. You see that sucker going and steam’s going all over the place, there’s planes thrown in the air.”

It sounded bad to me. Digital. They have digital. What is digital? And it’s very complicated, you have to be Albert Einstein to figure it out. And I said—and now they want to buy more aircraft carriers. I said, “What system are you going to be—” “Sir, we’re staying with digital.” I said, “No you’re not. You going to goddamned steam, the digital costs hundreds of millions of dollars more money and it’s no good

https://www.theatlantic.com/technology/archive/2017/05/trump-wants-goddamned-steam-not-digital-catapults-on-aircraft-carriers/526386/

29

u/jail_grover_norquist 20d ago

he's such a fucking moron

these ships have god damned nuclear power plants, i think they can handle an electromagnetic launcher

12

u/Alleyprowler 20d ago

"The digital"? is that like "the cyber"? I hear Barron is good at that.

14

u/coffee_badger Indiana 20d ago

I hate that this makes sense to me.

22

u/ccasey 20d ago

It makes sense, it’s also the logical thought process a 6 year old would follow. This guy is profoundly stupid.

6

u/we_are_sex_bobomb 20d ago

Imagine if he ever set foot on a boat, how much he would learn.

Who knew boats were so complicated?

6

u/Defiant_Way3966 20d ago

I'm sure he has raped plenty of women on boats/yachts. Oopsie I mean stepped foot on many boats.

5

u/EmilyBlackXxx 20d ago

I think you’re onto it here, and I think the ‘sharks’ thing is down to the orca incidents with yachts lately. A uniquely rich-people problem that the sort of people he golfs with would bring up.

All filtered through the sodden grease-soaked toilet paper that used to be his brain.

1

u/FiendishHawk 19d ago

Wow this is actually a thing. Orcas: the anarcho-socialists of the sea

https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/orcas-just-sank-another-yacht/

3

u/SolomonOf47704 20d ago

So it's common sense that batteries are too heavy to work in a boat.

"You can't throw a brick, it's too heavy"

2

u/vahntitrio Minnesota 20d ago

Batteries might be too heavy for a naval boat, but on a pontoon with say a 75hp motor you can buy electric outboards and even with the battery they weigh less than a gas outboard of the same power.

So it can be done if you only intend to go a few miles each trip rather easily. On those types of boats a gas tank might last a full season, so having to charge it before a weekend isn't the end of the world (I charge my trolling motor battery after each trip).

1

u/Conch-Republic 20d ago

Electric boat propulsion is getting there, but fuel powered is still superior in basically every way. It takes a lot of energy to push a boat through the water. It is being adopted by a lot of sailboats, though.

2

u/Technical-Title-5416 20d ago

Wait until he finds out you can make a ship out of concrete...or even...steel. 😱

u/ProfLuigi 20d ago edited 20d ago

The entire nation has been desensitized to all of this. From his extreme and dangerous mindset, to the delusional losing-his-mind comments. This has been a long-haul effort by the far right since Trump emerged. Of course he’s a psychotic moron. Of course he’s wildly dangerous. Of course he MUST lose.

But none of this is the point — he’s a CONDUIT for these shadow figures. They all know that at the core he’s useless. These people know the public isn’t listening, and when they are they shrug after nearly a decade of this.

This is their plan. If they’re numb to Trump, as the president, acting like a dictator, while Biden is incessantly judged by the morality police, then they’ll be numb to their most extreme goals.

I truly believe the election will begin the day after 11/5/24. They have no intent on winning through votes. It’s about flooding the system and dismantling it all with everything they have. We are not prepared and so many of us are Pollyanna about what we’re heading toward. Nothing has precedence to this in our history, but us, pundits, elites all act like this is just another year — and anyone who disagrees with that is just as jaded.

Vote like hell, yes, but I hope to god there is a plan for the day after, because that’s what they’re aiming for: the sick coalescing of the GOP, the elections of far-right local politicians with a singular goal of protecting Trump, the help of foreign adversaries and bro-like figures (Logan Paul/Elon Musk) with massive followings of vulnerable, violent and wildly insecure men dying for a hero vis-à-vis social media.

We’re witnessing a slow coup happening before our eyes, and yet here we are treating Trump with cutesy, politically correct words to describe what he and his acolytes represent. The time to start viciously screaming from the mountains tops is long gone.

60

u/Bigbeardhotpeppers Texas 20d ago

I feel like they might not realize it but their time has passed. I think the whole country is desensitized to it but I actually think that is a good thing. Instead of people freaking out every time the grifters say something dumb they just get put in the crazy bucket.

  • Jordan Peterson is seen as a nut job
  • Ben Shapiro is seen as a petulant man child
  • Crowder's life is falling apart
  • Joe Rogan is seen as a dipshit
  • Tucker is in the wind
  • Alito has been exposed
  • Thomas has been exposed
  • Rudy is super fuck
  • Trump is a felon

I think the positive I am seeing is people care less about what they are saying because it does not matter. I don't care what assholes say. There is less back-and-forth sway. I think that it is less reactionary now but it is a lot easier to dismiss something crazy that they said.

Remember the key is not to argue with these people it is to make fun of them. The KKK was not taken down by law enforcement, they were diminished in the eyes of the public and made fun of which led to a collapse. I think we are moving in the right direction and I believe is the correct direction.

26

u/jail_grover_norquist 20d ago

pretty much the only way i was able to bring my parents off the trump ledge -- just constantly pointing out what a clown he is, the idiotic shit he says about windmills and sharks, trying to sharpie a hurricane map, the numerous instances where he just parrots whatever the last person he talked to said even if it's the exact opposite of what he believed 5 minutes ago, etc.

10

u/sanktanglia 20d ago

Sadly all those people have millions of fans and collectively they have billions of dollars

5

u/e2mtt 20d ago

Millions of fans isn’t really that relevant, when there’s 325 million people in America. So 3% of those people are big fans of right wing casters, sounds pretty easy to mock. The billions of dollars are a bigger problem, because we know there are very very very deep pockets backing Trump for no other reason/make money on tax brakes and government favors.

3

u/soccercro3 20d ago

So the 119th Congress isn't seated until January 3rd, 205. I am really worried about what these current crazies do during the lame duck time between election and new congress session.

4

u/SekhWork Virginia 20d ago

Fortunately that period is relatively toothless from a legal standpoint. What are they going to do? Scream and throw a tantrum? They don't control the senate or POTUS (yet). This isn't like Michigan(I think?) where they had a super majority on the way out and changed all the laws to gut the incoming Governors power.

3

u/Apalis24a 20d ago

I despair wondering if America will ever wake up from this insanity.

I want to get the fuck off of this planet - that’s one of the main reasons (besides finding the stuff fascinating) that I’m studying aerospace engineering. Things are so fucked here, and there is a terrifyingly high chance that it’s just going to continue to go downhill.

0

u/FiendishHawk 19d ago

Bad news: the billionaires want to make other planets even more oppressive than this one. Imagine the control they can have if they can shut off your oxygen for nonpayment!

1

u/Apalis24a 19d ago

That’s not how space exploration works, dude.

0

u/FiendishHawk 19d ago

That’s how Elon Musk and his fellow libertarian sci-fi nerds think it should work.

1

u/Apalis24a 19d ago

Elon Musk is too addicted to ketamine and social media to actually go to Mars.

1

u/FiendishHawk 19d ago

Mars fucking sucks. He wants to own it, not go there.

1

u/Apalis24a 19d ago

Fun thing is that, if he’s not there, he can’t really do jack shit to control it. It’s 40 minutes to make a round-trip transmission, and half a year to make a voyage there.

1

u/FiendishHawk 19d ago

Maybe he’s an idiot?

1

u/Apalis24a 19d ago

Bingo.

omg it would be a peaceful time once his mouth will be shut, so sick of his drama and lies and his cult

17

Imagine if he goes to jail for just one day - ONE DAY - and we don't have to hear anything from his mouth or thumbs for 24 hours.

17

u/GregWilson23 20d ago

The way things have been going, if he does go to jail, I fully expect them to outfit his cell with live podcast equipment.

2

u/1armedscissorsister 20d ago

Agreed. He'll smuggle it inside his diaper

7

u/Destination_Centauri 20d ago

If he goes to jail...

Is he going to go through withdrawal?

I'm pretty sure he's taking something illicit!?

7

I was wondering if a drug test is part of probation?

2

given that justice doesn't seem to apply to him, I think it is very likely he will not go to jail...

You can also just put down your phone and go outside. That's an option.

3

They don't quite possess his shameless charisma that a cult of personality requires

0

u/CryptographerDizzy28 20d ago

yup they don't

1

u/Gr1ml0ck America 20d ago

I’ve thought about this a lot and at the end of the day I don’t see them as much more than daddy Trump’s yes men. They are benefiting from the Don, but I doubt they would have the energy or mindset to carry the torch that papa orange-face started.

My money says the family will sink into reclusion once king Trump dies. They will happily fight over his assets and disappear into the wind.

But maybe this is all wishful thinking.

-1

u/caveatlector73 20d ago

It would have made a great SNL skit I suppose.

9

u/Leather-Map-8138 20d ago

I dreamed that Trump had an event that left him mentally and physically incapacitated. He’d make wild movements with his arms and shout meaningless word salads. But the people around him acted like nothing had changed, that everything he said was brilliant.

3

u/Dr_Zorkles 20d ago

The emperor has no clothes

9

u/HappyFunNorm 20d ago

It's pretty normal as far as Trump rants go.

7

u/seeingeyefrog 20d ago

This campaign has officially jumped the shark.

29

u/TXRhody Texas 20d ago

I haven't seen a single person suggest it's normal.

44

u/Caelinus 20d ago

I think they are talking specifically about the media and Republican's general lack of concern over it, while inordinately fixating on Biden mixing a word or two up occasionally.

The stuff Trump is saying is orders of magnitude more worrying, but he says it in front of giant cheering crowds and does it so often that it just becomes the new normal.

Biden on the other hand is always coherent, so his gaffes stand out in the same way a minor cosmetic scratch stands out on a screen.

But it has created an informational distortion field where Biden is treated as the incompetent one.

11

u/The_Royale_We 20d ago

Im old enough to remember Howard Dean sinking his career because he yelled YEAH too enthusiastically

4

u/TheGoodKindOfPurple Illinois 20d ago

CNN had that on blast for days.

-18

u/No_Anxiety_454 20d ago

"I got hairy legs that turned that turned blonde in the sun. And the kids used to come up and reach in the pool, and rub my leg down so it was staight and watch the hair come back up again and look at it. So I learned about roaches and I learned about kids jumping on my lap."

Yeah definitely always coherent.

10

u/Caelinus 20d ago edited 20d ago

It is coherent, just a really dumb story. In context he was attempting to connect with some youths at an event at a swim center. His story has been lightly corroborated as well.

It was a poor attempt to talk about race relations and how he and the people at the swim center he used to work at, who were all black, found things interesting about each other. And his blonde hairy legs, and a weird story about an aggressive youth named corn pop, were what he went with for some reason. He was clearly unprepared and was just trying to riff for some reason.

It was a dumb story, and clearly was an old white man struggling to relate to black teenagers in the way that old white men do. It would have been orders of magnitude better to talk about literally anything else, but there is a chain of logic, just one backed up by almost zero real experiences he could draw on.

Biden is old, and he is definitely not as sharp as he was when he was not old by any stretch of the imagination. But he is normal old rather than deep into frontotemporal dementia old. If there was any option to have a younger, sharper, and less weird about race relations candidate, I would jump on it.

Trump is just worse by far.

Edit: Here is the snopes article talking about it and some of the evidence that corroborated it.

1

u/No_Anxiety_454 7d ago

Hope you're happy bro.

5

u/rickskyscraper3000 20d ago

What was the context of his statement? Seems like it had something to do with being a white lifeguard in a predominantly black area, where the young kids were weirded out by his curly blond leg hair. In the entire speech segment, his comments are entirely coherent. That said, Joe is not the same as he was 10 years ago. But neither am I. Aging sucks.

5

u/Caelinus 20d ago

Yep, that is exactly the context. Freaking weird story, but one that is likely true given that other people recounted similar information and also corroborated the existence of the guy named "corn pop" that he talks about in another part.

He is rambling to search for a story to relate to the black youth around him, and is definitely falling flat on his face, but what he is doing makes sense. He just executed terribly.

4

u/cfgy78mk 20d ago

it is normal for him but he hasn't been normal in years.

5

u/19southmainco 20d ago

The point is that the conservatives are ignoring his maniac rants.

They don’t give a shit about the man. They care that they gain control of the WH and the power that comes with it

1

u/TXRhody Texas 20d ago

If they were pretending it's normal, they wouldn't be ignoring it.

3

u/ScoutsterReturns 20d ago

When I first saw the shark thing my mind went immediately to Howard Dean. I also have seen no one that thinks it's normal, but isn't it weird that these kinds of things have no effect? I guess it's just an issue of volume, because he says so many ludicrous things, but it still feels surreal that it goes on.

I mean, a whole lot of us have know and been saying how unfucking normal this shit is for 8 years now.

And what’s worse, trump has shifted what is normal. 35% of our country are in a cult where normalcy is dead. It might be enough to destroy the USA we’ve know for 240 years.

3

u/GregWilson23 20d ago

*not everyone; they’re less than 40% of the US population.

3

u/Rosellis 20d ago

I wonder how he’d react if someone began trolling him by leaving toy sharks for him to find in odd places…

3

u/Snoo_88763 20d ago

Yeah cuz it's like the fifth time he did it... where has everybody been?

Besides, we all know he was just riffing cuz "his teleprompter broke" AKA he couldn't read it, so just started playing the hits. What will be real fun is when he says "sharks? boats? I'd never say anything like that!"

3

u/Dysentarianism 20d ago

“I say,

‘What would happen if the boat sank

from its weight

and you’re in the boat

and you have this tremendously powerful battery

and the battery’s underwater,

and there’s a shark

that’s approximately 10 yards over there?’

By the way,

a lot of shark attacks lately.

Do you notice that?

A lot of shark …

I watched some guys justifying it today:

‘Well, they weren’t really that angry.

They bit off the young lady’s leg

because of the fact that they were not hungry,

but they misunderstood

who she was.’

These people are crazy.”

Trump deserves a Grammy for Best Spoken Word Album.

u/flirtmcdudes 20d ago

Every transcript of his speeches is a word salad of garbage.

5

u/ChrisInBaltimore 20d ago

I do think it’s something worth pondering… how would you rather go: sharks or electrocution?

Personally, electrocution should be quick but we’ve all seen the horror stories. I’m still probably going that route… but it is a curious thought.

Thankfully we have presidential candidates raising the level of discourse in this way- just what the Founding Fathers envisioned.

2

u/xesttub 20d ago

Number one threat to america .. Sharks!

2

u/NanakoPersona4 20d ago

There is that famous clip with Hitler from the movie "der untergang".

Trump is literally that dictator in the Republican party.

2

u/Tight_Day9668 20d ago

Well this explains why my mom has been warning me about sharks at the beach for the last two weeks prior to a trip this weekend.

2

u/Grow_Responsibly 20d ago

I take this as actually a GOOD sign. The pressure of multiple indictments, convictions, etc. is likely accelerating his cognitive decline. Hopefully there are enough "sane" Republicans and Independents that are seeing this decline and understanding the implications if someone with severe cognitive impairment were elected as President. We can expect more (and likely more unhinged) rants such as this in the coming weeks & months.

2

u/janethefish 20d ago

If he actually debates Biden I think we will get to see them side by side and that will make a big impact.

2

u/eyebrowshampoo Kansas 20d ago

Sharks appear to have troubled Trump's mind for years

My favorite sentence in any Trump article ever.

2

u/dobie1kenobi 20d ago

I expect they’ll say on the Sunday shows that he was talking about electric cars and how now they’re trying to sell fully electric boats, and isn’t that dangerous…. As if boats don’t already have battery powered trolling motors. Next he’ll rant about boats being powered by the wind.

2

u/takethisdownvote1 20d ago

This reminds me of Hershall Walker going on about vampires and werewolves.

2

u/SpaceManSmithy California 20d ago

It is normal for a dementia patient.

2

What about windmills and showers and toilets? Normal for trump to also rant about, apparently.

2

u/Jsmitty78 20d ago

Trump ranting is very normal

2

I'm sure Jim Jones didn't make any sense at all in the final years either, but a majority of his followers drank the Kool-Aid with pride.

Everyone Just Pretends It’s Normal

False and hyperbolic. Normal people all know and agree that he's an unhinged looney tune

2

u/TheGrayJamie 20d ago

Not me. I'm horrified. Sickened, as I watch the world mocking us. I am ashamed of the too many Americans-In-Name-Only, who are destroying everything democratic in the name of God and Country...err...I mean Greed, Crime, and Control.

2

u/craigathan 20d ago

Here's the thing though. There's a little tiny kernel of a real issue underlaying this fantastic tale of sharks, electricity, batteries and the ability to leap 10 yards at a single bound. It's obvious that someone has been at his ear about the electrification of the boats.

What most people may not know is that cargo ships use some of the dirtiest fuel in existence, HFO. Which is also known as bunker fuel or residual fuel oil, and is a viscous, tar-like residue left over from the petroleum refining process and is carbon-intensive and contains more impurities and noxious substances than gasoline, such as sulfur. There's lots of talk of converting cargo ships to electricity and as well pleasure craft to help preserve waterways and reduce emissions.

My bet is that some goomba who makes engines for boats and all the associated maintenance and replacement has been telling him about the "ills" of converting. Those "ills" are more likely associated with that industries bottom line and more than likely hyperbole from an industry that doesn't want to change.

Trump being Trump, can't remember shit that doesn't directly have any effect on him personally, so he's small on details, but he does remember that electricity and water don't mix well and also remembers there's been a small increase in shark attacks in America and Shark Week is starting soon and has conflated the 2 issues together. According to Stormy, he's spoken at length about his fear of sharks and how much he hates them.

Add those all together and that rant kind of sort of not really makes some kind of inane sense. But the bottom line is, as president, he would more than likely put the kibosh on converting these types of fleets into something better for the world and environment. I wish the media would focus more on that aspect more than the ridiculousness of Trump.

For him it is though, I feel like it would be newsworthy if he started making sense.

u/RDO_Desmond 20d ago

Not "everyone."

1

u/RetroGamer9 20d ago

I know someone who isn’t watching Discovery for a week.

1

u/JojoHomefries 20d ago

Define "everyone"

1

u/BeleagueredWDW 20d ago

Because, for better or worse (well, worse), it IS normal. That’s where we are at.

1

u/greaterwhiterwookiee 20d ago

It IS normal for Trump. To have a completely left field topic spew from his orange mouth while trying to make a point that even he doesn’t understand.

This is the Trump way. Normal.Trump.

1

u/SeanOfTheDead1313 20d ago

Wait until someone shows Trump Sharknado. He'll go full bore about how they need to be stopped!

1

u/Pale-Worldliness7007 20d ago

He’s far from normal. If he’s successful in November I can’t imagine him being in meetings with other world leaders or even members of his own cabinet. He would just babble about anything and make no sense as long as he can hear himself talk.

1

u/birdsofpaper South Carolina 20d ago

FWIW I feel like this is a recurring theme for him… that he’s ranted about sharks multiple times before.

All that said, he’s still wildly unfit to be the local dog catcher let alone President. I just think he has a weird hatred of sharks.

1

u/we_are_sex_bobomb 20d ago

I love that he came up with this whole death by boat battery or shark conundrum and wants to enact policies based on that, without ever actually running it past anyone who has ever owned a boat.

(Spoiler: boats already have batteries.)

u/8lue42 20d ago

Everyone DOES NOT just pretend it’s normal

1

u/homebrew_1 20d ago

Republicans pretend it's normal. Magadonians pretend it's normal.

1

u/myPOLopinions Colorado 20d ago

The only people ignoring this are his supporters, there have been articles and news reports ad nauseum

1

u/AV8ORA330 20d ago

And this is why no matter what BS he spouts during the debate, no one will care. If Biden makes the slightest slip, everyone will loose their minds. Trump has said such dumb stuff, his base doesn’t care.

1

u/Radiant-Call6505 20d ago

Sometimes I wonder if Trump has the ability to make a remark that’s halfway intelligent.

1

u/dna1999 20d ago

Trump benefits from the soft bigotry of low expectations. It’s par for the course when he fucks up everything he touches. But when something goes wrong on Biden’s watch, it’s a grave offense because Democrats are supposed to be the adults in the room.

1

u/ssbm_rando 20d ago

"But what about that time Biden, who has had a lifelong stutter, stuttered?! That's the real dementia!"

1

u/DarthPimento 20d ago

For him, nonsense is normal.

1

u/whewtang 20d ago

Nah. We're just tired of hearing about him and don't know/care what the fuck he's talking about.

1

u/rovyovan 20d ago

Yes, but what about pretending about how people are pretending?

1

u/tacs97 20d ago

It’s really Joe Bidens fault if anyone is actually paying attention!! /s

1

u/bishpa Washington 20d ago

It is normal --unfortunately.

1

u/ray-the-they 20d ago

Okay real talk, did this start off as an anti-EV thing and devolve from there? Because that’s the only thread I can see.

1

u/Pallasite 20d ago

I made a song using the electric shark boat rant word for word

Why sharks?

1

u/Margali 20d ago

yeesh, that tooth thumbnail is a freaking jump scare.

i think the issue could be aided if we eliminate Myrdoch and all the fake news. trimming clups to show how great trump is and how bad biden is is totally screwed up. short of duct tapinf magats in front of uncut videos so they can see biden was watching paratroopers, amd trump verbally twiddling off into dolallydom.

1

u/More_Waffles2024 20d ago

Maybe he was talking about stock investors?

1

u/Massive-Ad-7385 20d ago

Because his Cult Followers are just as Stupid as he is.

1

u/wootr68 20d ago

He’s not even held accountable for crimes and cruelty. So why the head scratching when he’s not called out for just being a wack-a-doodle?

1

u/bandannick 20d ago

It’s not normal for most people, but it’s normal (or at least not a surprise) for him.

1

u/jo-parke 20d ago

When you deny science anything is possible!

1

u/Javasndphotoclicks 20d ago

I’d love to meet the gifted person who can understand what he is rambling about. It’s like someone doing a few lines of space dust and gets giving a speech that leads to nowhere.

1

u/Pumpkin_Pie 20d ago

He also has a fixation with wet batteries

1

u/MasterpieceTricky658 20d ago

They are too emotionally invested to admit that Trump is horrible.

1

u/Consistent-Leek4986 20d ago

stupidity is maga /GQP normal…for almost 9 years 🤬

1

u/Qwesttaker 20d ago

Trump ranting about nonsensical off topic things is normal.

1

u/metalnxrd 20d ago

I’m serious and not joking at all or using mental illness as an insult when I say Trump and Marjorie Taylor Greene and their stans are severely mentally ill; probably psychosis

1

u/Happy-Initiative-838 20d ago

Well, to be fair, it’s normal for Trump.

1

u/maddog232323 20d ago

We all know he's scarred of sharts

1

u/braxin23 20d ago

"Florida man rants about sharks to a bored and barely paid studio audience."

1

u/GC3805 20d ago

Someone come get grandpa he is having another dementia moment.

1

u/elc0 20d ago

Biden rants about cannibals eating his uncle. Why are y'all so concerned about this?

1

u/Cute_Bedroom8332 19d ago

What is your point? For every thing Biden apparently rants about I can find 100 rants from Trump that were literally made up. Do you think Joan Rivers who was dead in 2014 voted for Trump in 2016? Do you think Trump is running against Obama and not Biden. Did Trump beat Clinton or Obama liked he claimed. Also I do not see Biden go on made up rants trashing people. They are usually just stories about his personal life. Trump makes up shit about other people and just denigrates them. Remember folks...Trump did not really lose the election it was just stolen. Now let's send a mob to the capitol because Trump's sorry ass ego could not handle losing. Give me a fucking break man.

u/ArthurBurtonMorgan 19d ago

Jesus Christ, it’s an asshole with teeth! ☠️

1

u/skeeredstiff 19d ago

I think "everyone" is a bit of a reach.

1

u/StoriesandStones 19d ago

I’ve been trying to memorize this part of his speech so next time I’m out on my Trumper parent’s boat, I can re-enact it. Pray I don’t get thrown overboard.

Truly, when I saw a TikTok making fun of the sharks/boat speech, I thought it was a joke or an exaggeration. Not because I don’t believe trump says ludicrous and nonsensical things all the fucking time, but because ya know, TikTok, AI, misinformation, legit satire.

Waited to see it mentioned here and other sources, and holy crap. Not surprised, it just adds to my bafflement that anyone hears this loaded diaper speak and thinks “yes, that’s a quality human.”

1

u/mortalmonger 19d ago

Normal can mean “as expected”. This seems like normal behavior for him.

1

u/AlexandersWonder 19d ago

I get it. We’re all excited for shark week. Just hold it in until then though.

1

u/Icie04 18d ago

For Trump, that is normal.

1

u/OptiKnob 20d ago

His minions pretend it's normal. Anyone with working brain cells knows trump is quickly devolving into a quivering mass of shitstained stupidity.

-4

u/NOLA-Bronco 20d ago

Honestly I know this is mostly just to work us liberals up into a frenzy, but this is one of those cases where people are really just gonna both sides this shit. I mean has anyone read the Biden Time interview transcripts? It's equally wild.

That said, in the context that Biden has been labeled the old guy, much like immigration now, Trump's rants that come off like mental decline have helped triangulate that issue and at worse, make it almost a tie. Which is ultimately a win for Biden.

1

u/chicago_bunny 20d ago

the Biden Time interview transcripts

Not a single mention of sharks.

-21

u/-JackTheRipster- 20d ago

Pretty funny rant tbh.

9

u/DinnerEvening895 20d ago

I don’t want funny rants from the President.

9

u/caveatlector73 20d ago

If it had been at a comedy club I would have totally been laughing. I'm just not sure it would make him a good presidential candidate. But as you say, pretty funny.

-6

u/-JackTheRipster- 20d ago

I don't think it would go over well at a comedy club. But if your grampa interrupted everyone at the dinner table with that rant it would probably kill.

14

u/RamonaQ-JunieB 20d ago

No, if grandpa interrupted at the dinner table with a rant as crazy as that one was, we would hold a family meeting and do something because there’s something wrong.
