I thank whatever gods may be every day for my family of filthy liberals.

My immediate family is made up of people who just ignore everything and don’t vote.

I’ve tried to convince them, but they just don’t care one bit.

It’s not ideal, but it’s better than some of the republican family stories I’ve seen and heard about.

My mom was like that. My aunt and her husband are enlightened centrists, which is a fancy way of saying "Libertarian, but kind of condescending about it." My grandparents are similar to my mom, but show signs of leaning right, like loathing Ocasio-Cortez without knowing why and displaying Confederate flags.

Then you get to my other aunt, and it all starts getting really bad with fundamental Christianity (but some weird kind where they celebrate Jewish holidays as well).

I have so often wished that there was just one other liberal in the family.

It's a woman with a foreign name. What more do you need to know?

Oh, trust me, I get that it's because she's a non-white woman with somewhat socialist ideas, but they chalk it down to her being too "angry and loud all the time."

I've softly called them out once or twice, and it just flies over their heads.

Oh, the Jewish cosplayers. Aren't they so precious.
I love seeing them blowing a shofar or wearing a tallit and kippah while talking about Jesus as the messiah.
I mean, Christianity's existence is among the oldest and largest examples of cultural appropriation. Why stop now?

At the end of the day we do all reserve that option. It’s not the most forward thinking one, but I was definitely like this too at one point. After the pandemic I moved to the Rockies, it’s an attitude I’ve seen fairly common over here.

Same. Absolutely same.
