It’s funny you called out that sub. The most recent post looks like the same dude taking a spill.
11
u/71Gibson 1d ago
Definitely not the same dude if you’re talking about the guardrail guy. The guy here is a top skater from Italy. The guy who hit the guardrail should not have been skating that road given his form.

Dang I just noticed the irony.

Vs. 1 pebbly boy.

u/cheezecake2000 2d ago
It's not the pebble. It's that wet pinecone wishing you death

We have these spiky balls all around me from sweet gum trees that will fuck your shit up

Longboard wheels are wider and softer. Pebbles normally don’t do shit.

I used to downhill longboard, was the most fun I ever had and every hill I drive on I imagine what it'd be like to skate. I wasn't good enough though, and quit before killing myself but after leaving large portions of my epidermis on the road.

Bringing back memories. I’m in the same boat, wasn’t the best, went to a few slide jams, probably topped out at like 40-45 miles per hour. Never made it to the life threatening level of downhill. But my god I’ll never forget pre-drifting or just gripping through a corner. Some of the best days of my life were left on the hill.

u/J-Dabbleyou 11h ago
Same. I haven’t really longboarded in years. Anytime I’m driving on a long slope country road with my girlfriend I’ll always say “damn this would be some good skating”

u/MaximilianOSRS 2d ago
Better scout that whole run for rocks first

u/Odd-Purpose-3148 2d ago
I'm certain they did. His adjustments toward the end and definitely on the hairpin say he has practiced the lines.
24
u/4DPeterPan 1d ago
Bruh you know they broomed that entire long ass road before trying this. Straight up janitor style.
11
u/Good_Mathematician_2 1d ago
Nah, our school janitor growing up didn't give two shits about keeping things clean. They had to be neat-freak OCD off the wall kinda clean to make sure it was good to ride

u/atetuna 1d ago
I'd spend a fair amount for a pavement roomba that cleared my path of pebbles.

Big balls on both ends; skater and what shadow showed looked like a vehicle following. At that speed even if avoiding going off the side in any tumble ur getting run over

u/Vibriobactin 1d ago
This. Whatever vehicle that was following was CLOSE and it didn’t look to be fpv drone.

Absolutely. You can see the formula:
" young man skates with his longboard on a thin road [incredible landscape] "
" Literal description of video made relatable [Curiosity gap hook!] "

Narrow road…

u/rosscoehs 1d ago
I think others who have replied to you missed the point that calling it a "thin" road is weird, and it's much better described as a "narrow" road.

Bah, they have parachutes. When they manage to land with a running stop, then I’ll be more impressed.

u/Adestimare 2d ago
Not saying the original video isn't already enough to induce sweaty palms, but this clip from it is sped up to hell and back, like it's not even subtle at all.

Anyone know where this might be?
3
u/Nictrical 1d ago
I'm not sure, but it could be in France near the 'Observatoire de Haute Provence'. The quality is too bad to be sure, but those two white dots in the background could be the two observation domes.

It sure looks like this skate is entirely too close to a large vehicle.
10
u/Gnascher 1d ago
You mean the large vehicle with the chase camera ... Who he probably works with all the time ... And trusts with his life?
That large vehicle? Didn't notice it.

They got a proper helmet (and gloves) for this and they clearly have the skills. Very cool to see.
3
u/stonkfrobinhood 2d ago
I'm not sure that those thin pants and sweater would do much for him if he fell, but I guess something is better than nothing.

Was thinking the same thing, how you concentrate on someone else while skating down yourself….
2
u/Bimbo_Baggins1221 1d ago
This is a car following them! You can see the shadow in the beginning. Pretty standard operation for this level of skateboarding. Also helps you get back up the hill!

I used to ride downhill too, max speed I reached was about 120 kmph. To this day I have no fucking Idea how I didn't die during this time in my life.

What about the camera man that did the same stunt WHILE recording the other dude
9
u/clare616 1d ago
The cameraman who is driving the car the camera is mounted on? Very limited skills required there

Bro I can feel my feet burning just by looking how he handled that corner, looking at how he left the skate shortly after I can bet it didn't feel nice.

I could do that if I only wanted the ride to last 2 seconds before my entire body flew onto the pavement and I was bathed in lumps, bumps and asphalt.

Doesnt skidding like he does into that hairpin, with the board sideways and the wheels not rotating, just flat-spot the wheels and make the rest of the trip a lesson in vibrating the teeth out of his skull?

Imagine falling down at those speeds… your flesh would be torn away and you’d remain with your bones

When one pebble in the wrong place can alter the trajectory of your whole life. Just not worth the risk.

No matter what tricks go down, it's always the camera man that's most impressive. In this case, going just as fast, and keeping camera steady. But things like snowsports, the dude literally goes over a 70-80 foot jump while filming... That's insane

My neighbors tweens do this while revving their cars and going 20 mph on their skateboards down a bunny hill with selfie sticks...this is what they must think they look like in their heads...
