How in the world does she have 5 cubs?

If I had to wrangle that many you can bet I'd be looking for a pool to hang out at.

Also want to understand. They all look the same size so it's not like there's an older and younger litter... I googled it and the internet says that 6 is the record so maybe 5 is realistic but I had no idea.

No. She called an Ubear.

Heyyyyyo

u/stc207 1d ago

This was actually her cub’s birthday party with his classmates and it’s weird that some guy filmed them

u/ToastedSimian 2d ago

This was in my neighborhood, and she actually had 5 cubs. The video is from maybe 7 or 8 years ago. Our area is rife with black bears.

user picture checks out - would prefer running into these bears even as a man

No sh*t. After 5 cubs.

1

u/sleepysundaymorning 1d ago

How do people in such areas take care of their toddlers? I mean I was just thinking, god forbid, if there was a child playing in that pool when the bears decided to pay a visit, it would be very dangerous

5

u/frickindeal 1d ago

If you're leaving a toddler unattended in a pool, you have problems before the bears even show up.

15

u/Goddamnpassword 2d ago

Fun fact with mammals you can estimate average litter size by taking the number nipples and dividing by 2.

2

u/Efficient_Fish2436 2d ago

Hmmm.. delicious.

u/Fluffy-Match9676 2d ago

She really should be sunning next to the pool with the cubs going in and out.

Pools bring out the friends and extended family

5

u/MOTXffmedic 2d ago

Right? That’s so rare!

5

u/charitelle 2d ago

Birthday party. Cousins were invited.

2

u/Y0shiCur 2d ago

She may have adopted them.

1

u/WesternWitchy52 2d ago

Glad I wasn't the only one with that question lol

1

u/Belgiumgrvlgrndr 1d ago

She only has one but was the only mom to bring snacks to the pool.

94

u/malepitt 2d ago

I'll bet the pool's manufacturer would *really* like to see this clip!

67

u/One-Mud-169 2d ago

LMAO, the little ones even enjoying the slide! I assume the owner was the person taking the video and is safe inside the house.

6

u/LordMarcusrax 1d ago

It would be so hard to resist cannonballing inside the pool and dying horribly.

u/DuzziFlowing 2d ago

Kudos to that rickety looking pool wall for supporting the weight of that mama bear (no offense, mama bear)

1

u/jimbowesterby 11h ago

I mean, the wall’s already holding back a few tons of water so another few hundred pounds probably isn’t much. I would worry about the claws tho

37

u/Enchant3dCutie 2d ago

The fact that mama bear had 5 cubs is incredible, & that they're healthy, that mama deserves more than a pool break!!

30

u/envykay18 2d ago

5 cubs? Is she running a daycare?

64

u/adamhughey 2d ago

That water must smell terrible now. I wouldn’t be able to bear swimming in it after this.

19

u/SamuraiSlick 2d ago

Positively grizzly smell.

10

u/swibirun 2d ago

Can you imagine coming home and finding your pool dirty, stinky, and full of coarse black hair?

19

u/Baboonofpeace 2d ago

Hey now… who are you and how do you know my wife?

5

u/Log_Out_Of_Life 1d ago

And full of tapeworms.

18

u/Fredderov 2d ago

They honestly look more respectable than a majority of human pool goers.

15

u/Luqmaniac_101 2d ago

Guess the heat is.... . . . . unBEARable . . . . Aight, Imma head out

11

u/charliesk9unit 2d ago

This is an advertisement for the pool, on how sturdy and claw-resistant it is.

15

u/allursnakes 2d ago

MAAAA! YA, THERES SIX OF EM NOW!!! MAAAA, GET OUT HERE!

5

u/Rickshmitt 2d ago

Adorable. Bear insurance for new pool?

6

u/SomeCrazedBiker 1d ago

That poor bear. Five cubs sounds like nightmare fuel.

4

u/Healthy_Candy9522 2d ago

This is why we need surveillance in our home when we aren't there. 🤣🤣🤣

3

u/Remarkable-Load928 2d ago

Drain it, disinfect it, rinse it, fill it.

4

u/Shakespearewicked 1d ago

I'm thinking this is a playdate for a few extra cub friends and just one momma to watch them all. Poor momma is probably going nuts. Cutest thing ever though.

2

u/TicTac_No 2d ago

"Mooom, Joey won't push me in the pool!"

"Joey, push your brother in the pool."

2

u/datalorew 1d ago

‘Da bears.

4

u/NoobyBoiByte 2d ago

This sub has fallen

2

u/JP1029384756 2d ago

Aww. Super convenient that she found a daycare for that many cubs.

2

u/DrEvil007 2d ago

"Ohh honey, you're not going to believe this.."

2

u/h0twired 2d ago

I could watch this for hours.

1

u/neosharkey00 2d ago

I dare you to chase them out.

1

u/Jezebels_lipstick 2d ago

Where are the raccoons & the skunk?

1

u/OG_DarkDolphin 1d ago

“Pools are great for holdin water” - Voltron

1

u/copingcabana 1d ago

Going for a swim. Bear with me.

1

u/Candid-Sky-3709 1d ago

look, nature left some toys out for bears to play with - so there is a higher being rewarding good deeds with swimming pools!

1

u/SlightAmoeba6716 1d ago

If I lived in an area with such wildlife I would get a pool just to attract them for my own entertainment. Better than any movie.

1

u/ChocoLoco92 1d ago

Reverse Goldilocks?

1

u/TheSingingRonin 1d ago

Can I pet that dog?

1

u/Visible-Scientist-46 11h ago

Mom just wanted a spa day!

1

u/oldsterhippy 2d ago

Adorable! Small bear towards the end of video almost made it to the raft. Did they manage to snag it?

1

u/DragonFlyCaller 2d ago

That do just like us at the pool with kids!!!

1

u/mindharbinger 2d ago

Good to see mother bear take the cubbies to the pool, while papa bear is raiding pic-a-nic baskets.

1

u/BlackCherrySeltzer4U 2d ago

Wow that is quite the family. I thought bears usually have two to three cubs per litter. But five? That must be one diligent momma bear.

1

u/B_for_Bach 2d ago

do they often wonder how humans create these unnatural things? they seem to have a very good understanding of their surroundings so that slide made of plastic and that pool must seem unnatural to them.

1

u/baloneyz3 2d ago

It’s like the Kalahari for bears.

1

u/49thDipper 2d ago

That’s a bust mama. 5 is a bunch of

Found Baloo

-1

u/QuevedoDeMalVino 2d ago

I find it rather terrifying tbh.

0

u/bright-horizon 2d ago

Haha “their pool” very cute though.

-1

u/Storm-0- 2d ago

Haha

-4

u/stephencurry2046 2d ago

Imagine if the kids saw this and think the bears are cute and just join them to play… I’d move my families out of there as soon as I see the recorded video

1

u/codiciltrench 2d ago

They're black bears, you can scare them away with a stern whisper
