My favorite part about these is the ongoing bullying of Dlo no matter the situation.

some at r/lakers will deny how much lebron blames his teammates. I can remember like it was yesterday when he’d give kuzma the death stare if he happened to miss a shot lmao

Mario Chalmers the og scapegoat. they did build the team around him
39
u/SpicyMustard34 Cavaliers 2d ago
but like.... a lot of the time it was chalmer's fault.

u/mikedanktony Lakers 2d ago
tbh I was a nephew during the heatles days so I was all lakers and nothing else. Has he been like this since Miami? I began noticing this during his second Cavs stint and it’s gotten progressively worse since the brick trade lol

u/WarmSlime666 Vancouver Grizzlies 2d ago
The whole story is long and pretty complicated. There's a lot of history between him and Chalmers, which you can read about here. (potentially NSFW)

And real ones remember when Kuzma pushed a LeBron into defensive position when he was slacking
80

He 100% deserved that shove. Close out on the fucking shooter Bron - he's in the NBA, he can probably shoot pretty well.

He did not lmao. Please rewatch the entire sequence again because there is no way you can't see that was Kuzma's cover, not Bron's.
Ball IQ in this sub is lacking, even when there is so much material online to learn from.

No the defensive plan was for Kuzma to be there. There’s a whole thread about it when it happened. Lebron was guarding trez who was getting back on defense just in case there was a miss. Kuzma got shook by gallinari and left him open. Kuzma was supposed to say with his man

The DLO experience for every team is: you love him, start to notice things 🤔, then he gets hot and you love him again ... you cycle through that roller-coaster a few times .... and then later you get sick of him and just want off the ride so bad.
28
u/Salty_Pancakes Warriors 2d ago
For real.
And I think back to that Lakers squad with him and Nick Young together and now that I've seen both of them more with the warriors, I'm even more like, wow, they really had both those guys together at the same time lol.
25
u/ALittleFishNamedOzil Celtics 2d ago
They had old man Kobe, Lou Will, Nick Young, Julius Randle, Jordan Clarkson and D'lo on that same 2015-16 Lakers team. There will never be a larger collection of chuckers on the same team again.

Hasn’t even played a minute and he’s already the most hated #55 pick in history lol
You’d think people always scrutinize the 55th pick’s “NBA readiness” with the way people are obsessed over this one
30
u/GAV17 Argentina 2d ago
People aren't actually complaining about his "NBA readiness" though, it's more about his talent in general. NBA readiness implies he is just raw and needs development, people think he just doesn't have the talent.
→ More replies (5)7
u/prettyboylee Lakers 2d ago
I mean if in this context talent is defined as a natural aptitude for the game then that is probably the ONLY thing he has.
He’s too small and he doesn’t have good enough guard skills.
The only good thing anyone has said about him is his athleticism and always being in the right spot/feel for the game
If he was 6’6” with 7ft wingspan and the same ability right now he’d have been taken in the first round by some other team, banking on the fact that he could develop his skill later on.
But without those developed skills/size the things he does well are nowhere good enough.
Way I look at it is if you take Bronny James aptitude for the game and give it to Kelly Oubre you get an all star.
15
u/GAV17 Argentina 2d ago
I mean if in this context talent is defined as a natural aptitude for the game then that is probably the ONLY thing he has.
Not at NBA level for a ton of people, that's the issue.
If he was 6’6” with 7ft wingspan and the same ability right now he’d have been taken in the first round by some other team, banking on the fact that he could develop his skill later on.
That's not what most believe.
Way I look at it is if you take Bronny James aptitude for the game and give it to Kelly Oubre you get an all star.
That's not what most believe.
The issue we have here is that you think Bronny has a level of talent most don't believe he has. I have never seen him play nor I care much about the issue, but that's the issue between you and the rest. You believe he is not NBA ready, people think he will never be NBA ready. That the same player with a different surname would have 0 chance of being drafted or even talked about according to most.
11
u/TAYSON_JAYTUM Celtics 2d ago
99.9% of players with Bronny’s talent would be on the bench at USC for 2 years, realize they aren’t on track for the league and transfer to Loyola or something so they will actually play in the last 2 years of their life playing competitive ball
5
6
u/actchuallly 2d ago

Sim Bhular? every chinese player outside yao and lin, so so so many 7fters with zero athletic ability or basketball skills, on top of the hundreds of players drafted who were on professional teams and were never gonna come over including dudes in their 30's...

anyone else criticizes him in the locker room and they're on the trading block. Bronny does it? Might get cussed out at Sunday dinner but his spot's safe

They better not. Bronny finna give them up under pressure, or Lebron gonna order Bronny out the locker room while he runs everybody's fade for trying to use his son like that.

LeBron won't even be fazed by it, he'll just ask Bronny what the guys have been saying, digest it, and then start thinking of trades in his head while they're eating breakfast lol

2
39
u/LakerBlue Lakers 2d ago
I really am curious what Bronny will call Lebron. I obviously don’t know Lebron, but he feels like one of those parents who won’t let their kid call them by their name. But Bronny calling him dad or Mr.James would also be weird.
43
66
u/Horchata_Papi92 Bulls 2d ago
Calling him pops would be the least awkward sounding imo.
16
29
u/GABAgoomba123 Nuggets 2d ago
I’ve worked with people who benefited from nepotism, both competent and incompetent, and it’s so much easier to get along with them when they are just honest about the situation.
I think he’s gotta just go with whatever he calls his dad, despite how weird it is. Calling him Lebron wouldn’t seem like he’s being real, imo.
6
u/LakerBlue Lakers 2d ago
I think that’s certainly a respectable option and definitely agree with the top paragraph, but I do wonder if it being in a sports league would make it less likely. He’s going to get heckled for it regardless but I think openly calling him dad would invite more of it.
Of course, as you said, if he is earnest enough about it and secure enough he can certainly just ignore the trash talk.

u/Dildozer_69 Lakers 1d ago
