He really made a small character an icon. Honestly Gene Parmesan is probably in the top three references in this sub’s comments.

He was such an icon nobody realizes he was only in one non-Netflix episode.
Aaaaah, Gene. :(

I know, someone else commented it earlier and I just couldn't believe it but it's true

He can finally surprise Lucille with his wacky disguises again. Rest in peace, you legend.

This is such a sweet comment, it made me smile. Also because it made me hear Lucille's delighted scream in my head 😂

The bot being activated to comment on something as serious as a death is the most arrested development thing ever

I want to enter heaven and see someone in a bear costume, just so I can ask “Gene?”

Noooo! I love him so much. He was also great in Clue and Mr. Mom among so many other roles he had in his long career.

u/DetectiveTrapezoid 2d ago
Colonel Mustard!
Also a terrific guest spot on Veep

u/rogerworkman623 2d ago
His character in Clue and his character in AD are why the Bluths are always eating mustard and parmesan sandwiches

u/perfectfire 2d ago
The Eagle! Also Britta's dad on Community.

He’s in “A Futile and Stupid Gesture,” which I’ve rewatched multiple times, and he’s excellent. He even sings a song at the end (which I believe he wrote)!

He was so great as the ecstasy-loving dad on I'm Sorry and he will always have a special place in my heart as Principal Kraft on Sabrina the Teenage Witch. RIP Legend.

And as Leon in Roseanne. A gay character in a blue collar comedy in the 90s was huge!

THIS IS WAR, PEACOCK! You can’t make an omelette without breaking any eggs; every cook will tell you that!
But look what happened to the cook! …AUGH!

He was a recurring character on Two and Half Men playing a shady pharmacist

martin mull is in a category above most comic actors. right beside folks like carol burnett, martin short, madeline kahn, conan, etc. who just are so naturally funny that its in the way that they talk. RIP to one of the most reliably funny guys out there, thanks for the laughs and inspiration

He only appeared in like 3 episodes the whole show (once in the original run) but he’s one of the most iconic characters. What a talent. RIP

I looked it up on IMDb, and he’s only in Amigos in the original 3 seasons, and then 4 episodes in the 4&5. I was surprised.

But Martin Mull was the best. I especially loved his performance in Clue!

This role was so important. It was the first time I saw a gay man on tv that I actually remembered. He was so good I thought for years that he way gay in real life.
As I type this I hope it doesn’t read weird but I’m just trying to say he is a really good actor.

God: “Martin Mull… Martin Mull.. Is Martin here?”
angel taps God on the shoulder from behind
“No my God just… Gene Parmesan!”

Bursts open the basket, "actually, in not really dead! Gene Parmesian!" And hands someone a business card.

u/Salt-circles 2d ago
Someone needs to draw a lil comic of him arriving to heaven/afterlife in a disguise and god having the Lucille reaction of “AHH! GENE!”

My favorite part of his was when Lucille didn't know who he was and then discovered it was him.
He's Arrested Development's Magnitude.

I hope Ron Howard goes to his funeral, hides in a back row or loft, and during a eulogy after someone says “…..and he was the best…..” he uses a concealed wireless microphone to say “Gene was far from the best”
