Xbox hasn't had an exclusive game nominated to the Game Awards for 10 years now. :Discussion: Discussion

Drives competition and competition drives quality. That will always be a fact.

Exclusives don't drive competition between developers, they reduce competition amongst game developers since console manufacturers hand a first party / exclusive dev a fat guaranteed pay check just for launching on their console, rather than make them compete against other game devs / publishers for who's produced the best game.

They also don't drive competition between consoles since they let console manufacturers compete on who's bought / paid for the best games and studios instead of who's produced the best console. See: Microsoft finally throwing its full financial weight behind gaming and just buying Activision Blizzard. MS is a trillion dollar company, they could just buy EA, Ubisoft, and Embracer if they wanted to and make all their games exclusive as well. That doesn't drive competition amongst anyone.

I can see where you’re coming from. That does make sense. I’m sure the correct answer is in between both our mindsets like most issues in the world.
