Will go up even more after Thursday when they release the update.

A lot of people are waiting for that before they do another play through

1

u/A10010010 Apr 22 '24

I brought me, myself and I into this chat to say that I, too, am myself.

1

u/Motheredbrains Apr 22 '24

Same, I’ve been playing new Vegas

I started playing Fallout 4 for the first time a year or two ago, and about 3 weeks later, they announced the next gen update was coming so I stopped. Still waiting, LOL. Was playing Starfield for a while in the meantime and mostly enjoyed it, but bits were definitely wonky so I decided to wait for the updates/DLC to go back and finish. That's the open world game cycle now. You have to wait a year or so (or more) after the initial release date to get the "good, playable version." Ubi Soft kinda figured it out though by just making the same game over and over with different dressing.

This reminds me of one time my wife claimed that Assassin's Creed is like FIFA for gamers who are shitty at playing good games.

16

u/miggleb Apr 22 '24

Yeah, I'm a big fan of the assassin's creed games but she's not wrong.

They released like 5 games with the same formula, realised they needed to freshen things up and made some big changes.

Then proceed to do 5 games with the same different formula

6

u/RheimsNZ Apr 22 '24

Damn, she's onto it lol

-1

u/getgoodHornet Apr 22 '24

Just FYI, you forgot to put the ex- in front of wife there.

6

u/TheGreatAkira Apr 22 '24

Nah man, I love her 💞

Me waiting to see if mods get destroyed before going through with it

10

u/4thTimesAnAlt Apr 22 '24

I'm actually going to do a no-mod/free Creation Club stuff-only run first while I wait for the modders to get everything working. And I'm actually kinda excited for it? It's a weird feeling

2

u/TREBOMB1980 Apr 23 '24

I've never played a game with mods in my life for fallout. What kinda mods are you talking about?

2

u/4thTimesAnAlt Apr 23 '24

I run a bunch of different mods on console, from Cheat Terminal (can essentially run New Game+ AND fix quests!), to a bunch of New Vegas weapons/items, graphical enhancements, gameplay fixes. There's good stuff.

Actually, the one thing I know I'll miss the most is "keep radiant quests in the Commonwealth". Can't go to Far Harbor or Nuka World at level 7, so don't send me there, Rhys/Halen!

2

u/Sad-Willingness4605 Apr 23 '24

I quite enjoy vanilla playthroughs of BGS games.  I have hundreds and hundreds of hours with Elder Scrolls Fallout and Starfield all vanilla.  When the next gen update comes to Fallout 4, Imma do a new survival playthrough.

2

u/BoxOfDemons Apr 22 '24

Depends when F4SE gets updated. That's what will break the mods the most. Shouldn't really be too long. They made the starfield script extender really damn fast iirc.

2

u/TimelordAlex Apr 22 '24

its gonna completely wreck everyone using mods like myself :(

6

u/CountBleckwantedlove Apr 22 '24

I'm waiting to play it the first time until then. I've only ever played FO3. Planning to do New Vegas and 76 (is it single player friendly, does it cost anything on top of a GP sub?) followed by 4.

9

u/Illmattic Apr 22 '24

If you have gp you’re good to go and 76 is incredibly solo friendly. I have a little over a hundred hours into it and I’ve never needed another player. It’s pretty cool to run across them every once in a while or see a public event going on, but nowhere near necessary.

3

u/CountBleckwantedlove Apr 22 '24

That's great news! I assume 4 with enhancements will look a great deal better than 76?

I kind of want to play them in order of technical superiority lol.

3

u/Illmattic Apr 22 '24

Yeah with mods 4 will look much better. That’s probably my biggest issue with 76 at the moment, is that textures and animations are really stiff. Especially seeing other players, sometimes it looks like they’re running at like 15 fps. If you can get past that, it’s a great experience though!

7

u/Aced4remakes Apr 22 '24

76 is singleplayer friendly. You will find yourself doing events with other people, but that's fine, it'll make them go by faster. If by GP you mean GamePass Core or GamePass Ultimate then you'll be fine.

6

u/CaptainMagnets Apr 21 '24

Update of Fallout?

20

u/Glittering-Animal30 Apr 21 '24

Next gen update. Supposedly with new Enclave Remnant quest-line, new weapon pack, and Halloween workshop items.

19

u/Subatopia Apr 22 '24

Also 60 fps

7

u/Atcollins1993 Apr 22 '24

Downscales resolution from 4K to fuckall is my understanding — no?

1

u/Evisra Apr 23 '24

But can I start a game without the character creator crashing? You know, the small things

2

u/Subatopia Apr 23 '24

I’ve honestly never heard of that. The only real issue I’ve had with FO4 is the game entirely breaking on pc to the point it won’t start, but that was definitely my own doing.

14

u/Dairy_Seinfeld Apr 22 '24

I hate how lowly this gen feels, considering we still refer to these as next gen updates.

5

u/CaptainMagnets Apr 21 '24

Omg that is fantastic news because I just finished the show and was about to fire up a new save!

1

u/[deleted] Apr 22 '24

A next gen upgrade would be nice

3

u/Spleeshers Apr 22 '24

I tried playing today, and it crashed three times. Hopefully, the update fixes everything. Haven't played it in years.

4

u/muncus101 Apr 21 '24

This. I'm waiting patiently to start on steamdeck.

2

u/iBliizy Apr 22 '24

I wonder how they count them in these numbers? I know I personally play my Deck off line exclusively. Can’t be the only one.

2

u/Fionn_MacCuill Apr 22 '24

I started already it runs great. Don’t think the PC version is getting much of an update

2

u/MamboNumber-6 Apr 22 '24

“Well, of course I know him. He’s me!”

2

u/AdJealous2 Apr 22 '24

I never got into Fallout 4 but if the Series X/S update is decent. I’ll try get into it and give it a proper shot!

3

u/Lausee- Founder Apr 21 '24

Indeed.

2

u/CreateorWither Apr 21 '24

I've never played it before and am also awaiting the update.

1

u/EveningChildhood3236 Apr 22 '24

Get 'next gen update' in terms of console, but what will be different on pc version? Have they specified what's coming in the update?

1

u/CreateorWither Apr 22 '24

Bug fixes I think

1

u/Croakie89 Apr 22 '24

Yeah, I can’t even get fallout 4 or new Vegas to play more than five mins without crashing

1

u/matt12992 Apr 22 '24

I started a new play through the day they announced it. So I'm just gonna restart when achievements are fixed and it's out

1

u/naeseard Apr 22 '24

well i’ve never played so I started yesterday after owning the game for 2 years now

1

u/iuwjsrgsdfj Apr 22 '24

Hell, I was so put off by the game I never got through it all but it was never THAT bad... now I definitely want to play it. It just felt nothing like the experience I had playing Fallout 3, New Vegas and Oblivion (and I guess Skyrim a little bit)... nothing else in the Fallout world has ever topped that experience. Unfortunately missed out on the early ES and Fallout games.

1

u/IamALolcat Apr 22 '24

Are they just upgrading the console versions or is the PC version getting an update too?

2

u/Gonejamin Apr 22 '24

I think its everywhere including PlayStation etc.

The fallout London team have delayed release due to the update potentially causing issues with thier amazin looking crazy mod project.

1

u/P1ka- Apr 22 '24

For PC it's widescreen/ultra widescreen support, and bugfixes

And everyone is getting new creation club stuff

1

u/beesayshello Apr 22 '24

I just beat my newest playthroughs of New Vegas and now I’m waiting for the FO4 update… can’t wait much longer, love getting an excuse to revisit.

1

u/Buuhhu Apr 22 '24

what's crazy is that's just steam... the game is also on gamepass as xbox owns bethesda now and i imagine a lot of people just play it through that. So PC current players probably quite a bit higher than helldivers if you count those but helldivers is only steam if i recall corectly (and PS5, but fallout is also on xbox/ps5 so lets stay to just PC for this comparison).

1

u/WetRainbowFart Apr 22 '24

Me too. I’ve also never even beaten it.

1

u/MrJoeKing Apr 22 '24

Another play through...I'm still on my first, after 8 years.

1

u/Beasthuntz Apr 22 '24

That's me.

1

u/DGSmith2 Apr 22 '24

I wont be doing another play through but I am definitely carrying on where I left off from when this news dropped years ago!

1

u/ArchDucky Apr 22 '24

I took off the 26th because Thursday is my birthday and I didn't even know about the update when I did it. Its like fate or something.

1

u/TimelordAlex Apr 22 '24

i'm not looking forward to this, its gonna break all the mods

1

u/th3j0k3rj03 Apr 22 '24

Anything wrong with the current state?

1

u/No_Caregiver8718 Apr 22 '24

I bought the game on the ps5 for that exact reason. 3 more dayss

1

u/[deleted] Apr 22 '24

I'm waiting for that update to just finish the game.

1

u/MrCarey Apr 22 '24

I downloaded it, just waiting for that update!

1

u/Dolomitexp Apr 21 '24

I'm actually doing a playthrough now and I'm gonna do another one as soon as the update drops.

1

u/mctrees91 Apr 21 '24

I am waiting - downloaded everything and am patiently waiting :)

0

u/big_booty_bad_boy Apr 22 '24

I didn't see any notable changes for the pc version?

0

u/[deleted] Apr 22 '24

I wouldn’t say a lot, just chronically online nerds

0

u/Educational-Error212 Apr 22 '24

You can load your character and do the new quest. Why would You Replay the Game?

-1

u/[deleted] Apr 21 '24

[deleted]

2

u/Default_Defect Apr 21 '24

Why wouldn't it come to xbox?

1

u/Big_Boss_Lives Apr 21 '24

Well he’s not a ducktective so…

1

u/Hydroponic_Donut Apr 21 '24

It's a current gen update coming to current gen consoles so yes. Bethesda's owned by Xbox, there's no reason to believe it wouldn't come to Xbox too.

-1

u/Rickard403 Apr 22 '24

That update effects Xbox Series X version correct? And these are steam numbers posted? But yes i agree.

1

u/huntinggrounds17 Apr 22 '24

Anyone else slightly concerned the update could cause lots of bugs/break the game?
